Code for Pollenex

Hi. I have a Pollenex device that has a single command (Power)
that I would like to be able to control with my JP1 remote. I posted
a file named pollenex.txt with the learned code to the Diagnosis area on Yahoo. Signal was learned on a 15-2117. I had trouble learning, so was using the LCD for feedback. Code is to be used on a URC-8810B00.

Wow, that has to be the simplest IR signal I've ever seen. It has just one burst pair with times +402 and -6184 and runs at a freq of 34.8 khz. Mike, have you verified that the learned signal actually works? If it does it should be fairly easy for one of us to throw together a quick upgrade using Protocol Builder.

Hi. Thanks Capn Trips and Robman. Yes, the learned signal operates the device. I'm glad to hear that it should be easy. I'm trying to set up a remote for a friend and show him the power of JP1. He wasn't too impressed that once I loaded the extender we couldn't control this device anymore.

Try the following upgrade, it's designed for the URC-8811 but will probably work with any newer S3C8 remote including the 15-2117. I have programmed it so that all of the numeric buttons should send the appropiate signal.

I would guess that you would then use a keymove to actually program it. When you program the keymove, the EFC that you use is totally irrelevant as they will all generate the same signal.

NOTE: I haven't tested this.

The upgrade worked on both the 8810w and the 15-2117. Thanks!

Some notes:
Neither the 8810w or the 15-2117 was able to learn the signal from the original remote. He was using a Sony learning remote, and we were able to learn the signal from that.

He has a Sylvania HDTV set-top box.

With the 8810w he noticed that channel surfing sometimes toggled the Pollenex device. With the 15-2117, channel surfing always toggled the Pollenex device. He then tried the original remote for the Sylvania box and it didn't toggle the Pollenex during channel surfing (pointed at the Sylvania box), but did toggle the Pollenex when pointed directly at it. This shows the difference in signal strength between the 3 remotes. He solved the problem by covering the IR window on the Pollenex with Duct tape. Now he can channel surf with the 15-2117 without toggling the Pollenex, but if he points the remote straight at the Pollenex he can control it.

I'm actually not surprised that other IR signals would cause interference with the Pollenex, this is because the Pollenex signal is so simple that the chances of it matches a portion of other signals is very high.

The Pollenex designers didn't do a very good job with the IR signal.
