First please confirm that you're doing a true factory reset, like this...
1) Hold SETUP (green P), wait for screen to change
2) Tap RECORD
3) Follow prompts
If you did this and still get the BAD E2 message, you have a faulty remote. Someone in Canada recently had the same thing happen with several URC-9911 remotes that they bought from Futureshop.
However, they just returned the remotes so we don't know what the real problem was. Plus, seeing as how your local RS probably doesn't have any more 15-2117s available, your best option is to try and fix it. I would start by checking that the EEPROM is soldered in properly.

So, you were doing an OPS RESET rather than an MFR RESET ?

Manufacturers reset for 8910
Robman
I have the same symptoms mentioned here, but on OforA 8910's. I get memory fault after uploading a known good file. I have tried ops reset, but hoping there is the same Manufacturers Reset you mentioned for the Radio Shack remote.
Thanks
