Acer 7763P Data Projector

Post by Loudspeaker »

Hi Guys,

I am new here, great site!

I just bought a remote to replace a lost one and I can't get it to work. Any help would be fantastic.

1. Device: Acer 7763P
2. Type of device: Data Projector
3. Remote model: One For All 6 (URC-7562)
4. Still have original remote? No
5. JP1 user? No

I have seen about 20 different types of URC's and I have never seen one that mentions that it will work with a Projector. Does anyone have a URC they use with their projector?

It almost certainly will be able to control your projector, since generally most things IR can be controlled. (From the short time I've been reading this board I've seen all sorts of things IR being got to work, Projectors, Childrens Toys, Fans, Air Con units....)

You don't mention if you have a JP1 cable, which makes life easier, but since the URC-7562 is upgradable through a wav file (or over the phone) it's not essential. (It would be essential if you had the original remote and needed to decode the learned signals)

AS mentioned the 7562 is upgradeable over the phone, so one way to approach this would be to phone the OFA helpline in the instructions for your remote and see if they already have an upgrade. (EIther already built in or as an upgrade they can send you)

Failing that go over to the code search forum and look at the #1 Code Search FAQ. This might enable you to find all you need, if not it lets you know what you need to post to make life easier for the experts...

Alan, I've looked at all the files posted at the online libraries at:
RC for just about every remote,
Premise,
LIRC,
HP48,
RTI-TT,
JP1, and
Intellanet

I found ZERO Acer files. IIUC, Acer became BenQ and there are two BenQ models in the JP1 files but each with a different device number.

So, you need to contact BenQ and try to get technical information for the IR commands out of them. We can usually translate that into a meaningful command set.

Also, does it have an RS-232 command set. If you are using it with a computer then control it with RS-232.

You might try posting at AVS forum in the projector forum and see if anyone has learned them with a Pronto and can send their ccf file. We have tools to translate ccf files.

BTW, it is very unlikely that any universal remote will have Projectors in their built in libraries. We of course, can add command sets through the JP1 tools.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies... :D

I have also found no Acer files for this Remote. As I am so new to this I do not fully understand what JP1 is.

I did ring One For All customer service and they asked me to email a pic of the original remote (which I lost). I will just email them a pic I found on the net. Then they will give me an update from there.

My remote does have 3 pairs of jumper pins on the back, is that what is refered to as the JP1?

Yes, in the 7562 I think they are at the top of the battery compartment, effectively two rows of 3 pins. These allow connection to an eeprom in the remote which is used to store upgrades to the remote. Thanks to the work of the experts here (and others who are maybe no longer active here) the format of the eeprom data is understood and so "we" can put our own updates into the remotes.
