I just bought two 15-2117's on clearance. I want to use one downstairs with its command center and one upstairs with its command center (IR blaster). Will the downstairs one control the upstairs one and vice/versa? Or is each remote married to its own command center.
I want them to function separately and not interfere with each other.
TIA!
Can I use two 15-2117's with two separate command centers?

Each remote will send to all the RF receivers in the house (at least
the ones close enough to get the RF signal)
In practice, this means if you should treat your devices as if they were
all in the same room. ie if you have Replay or TiVo in two rooms, it's
best to assign unique unit codes to them (just as if they were sitting in
the same room)
Bear in mind, the RF range is ok, but not great.

Do you have more than one device that will respond the same IR commands? Some DSS receivers and VCR's and some Sony receivers have more than one command set.
I think both receivers (command centers) will respond to commands from either remote. I doubt if there is much of an interference problem unless both remotes have a button pressed at exactly the same time.

First, there's the general issue, which is whether or not the RF combo can be set to different frequencies (i.e. "channels").I think both receivers (command centers) will respond to commands from either remote. I know of a few that can be set to one of 16 freqs, so you could theoretically have 16 different RF remotes in the house operating independently. If you wanted you could set a couple to the same freq. and those would interact. Of course if there's no way to change the freq./channel, then they'll all operate in common (which is not what the poster wants).
That general issue being stated, unfortunately I have no idea whether the remote-in-question can be "customized".

All the UEI RF-enabled remotes use the same frequency and cannot be changed (i.e. channels) by the user. That's why the RF command centers from OFA and RS are interchangeable and can be controlled by either brand.difi wrote:whether or not the RF combo can be set to different frequencies (i.e. "channels")
I'm sure that's possible, but probably not easy to do. Not to mention the fact that the FCC probably wouldn't to keen on the idea either.I have no idea whether the remote-in-question can be "customized"
