usb interface

Post by audiman »

open note to tommy tyler,
i was just ordering parts for the usb interface--my first.
mouser has raised the price of the idc connector to .83 from .67-- makes the total 4.07 + shipping.
also wondered if we could save .03 by using the same vishay resistor for r1,r2,r3 in 1% 10k?
also am wondering what you thot of using cat-5 cable for the remote in place of phone cable?
the catalog pages for catalog #619 are 561,537,486,396,392,unlisted,734,865,1154 for version 2.0, 6/10/2004.
i was going to order four 802300 chips from delcom and then sell the extras on the market place forum for $8 + shipping to avoid the $5 handling fee at delcom---do you think this is an ok idea?
thanks, jon

Cat5, sure, the data rate is sliw enough.

Buying parts and reselling them, sure, why not.

No problem with 1% resistors if they're not too large to fit where you want them to. No performance problem with ANY kind of cable, but I recommend you not use anything with solid conductors. A cable like this that gets a lot of flexing should use stranded wire, so it doesn't some day break silently and secretly and cause you grief.
