JP1 Remotes

I was wondering if anybody makes any software to do the above. I searched on here, but it seems like everybody wants to convert their pronto code over to km upgrade file, but I need to do the reverse.

I'm trying to get my unsupported set top box ir codes into my tivo recorder. I've found a way to do it, but in doing so I have to have my remote ir codes in "pronto" code form to put them into a spreadsheet (which is located online, can link to it if that will help) to have them converted over to a tivo ir code output file that I in turn will have to hack into my tivo to put these codes in........

I have an 8910 learning remote with jp1 cable, and I've learned the keys off of the unsupported remote, but need to know how to convert these over to the pronto hex code. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for any help, or pointing me to the right direction.

There are programs to do most of the work for you in converting from a JP1 upgrade to a CCF file. It isn't all integrated together (of course converting from CCF to a JP1 upgrade isn't integrated either).

The main thing you need is the MakeHex program.

Your upgrade is NEC1 protocol device 0, so you should edit the NEC1.IRP file included with MakeHex to change the device number to 0. Then drag the icon for NEC1.IRP and drop on the icon for MAKEHEX.EXE. That will create a file named NEC1.HEX containing Pronto Hex for all the signals.

You may want to also use the IrPanels program (though there are other ways). Open NEC1.HEX in a text editor, select all and copy, then paste into IrPanels. That creates a CCF with all the commands on numbered buttons.

You can merge that CCF into your own CCF and then alias the numbered functions created by IrPanels onto the named (or icon) buttons you create (or copy the graphics from the cable part of someone else's CCF).

To know which function names go with which function numbers, open up your KM upgrade functions tab and use the "Functions" and "OBC" columns.

You may prefer to skip IrPanels and merging CCFs, in which case you must copy/paste each Pronto Hex string one at a time from the NEC1.HEX file into the "Add IR" dialog in Pronto Edit.
