Problem opening an .IR file in IR

Post by Wheelie4 »

This problem started today after I started using 5.08. Everytime I try going to File>Open to open my .IR file in IR I get this message:

If I choose not to cancel I get this error:

If I click ok after that I get this:

If I click ok then I get this:

After that the files empty.

I can open it by choosing the file from the recent list under the file menu but not from the open option. It will also allow me to open the .txt file that was created when I saved the .IR file but not the .IR file.

I tried going back to 5.07 but it does the same thing untill I open the .txt file in 5.07 and save it as a .IR file then 5.07 will let me open the .IR file with no problem. Any ideas?

Same problem here... I always use the recent list, so I didn't catch this until you pointed it out.

Mark,

Thanks, I was afraid something had gone wacky with my system since nobody else mentioned this happening. :)

Just FYI, reading between the lines it appears that all FFs are being read. The biggest clue being the "expected $00 $FF but found $FF $FF", but the other messages are also consistent with this.

I'm guessing since 5.07 has the same trouble opening an .IR file saved by 5.08 the same way 5.08 has trouble, but 5.07 nor 5.08 has no trouble opening a .IR file saved by 5.07 that the problem might be in 5.08's .IR save process. Just guessing cause I'm no programmer.

Good guess, Wheelie! The .IR files saved by 5.08 do NOT contain any EEPROM data, only the notes and related info.

Good diagnostics folks. It looks like "save" and "save as" in 5.08 is creating a good .txt file but the .ir file is empty (except notes). That answered why I was not able to re-create the problem since I have not saved anything in 5.08. I also agree and confirm that the problem did not exist in 5.07 so going back to 5.07 and opening the .txt file and saving it will create a new and good .txt and .ir file. By the way, doing this will loose any notes that are in the NG .ir file so they would need to be saved from the bad .ir file and copied in to the new one.

Paul, are you listening?????

I really butchered it when trying to fix the issue with the periods. I've reverted to the code prior to that change
