Harman Kardon codes won't work for my AVR525, RS 2116...
I jumped into the world of JP1 last night, with a new RS 2116 in hand. Using the tutorials I had pretty quick success programming the remote. It took me more time to get the Data Analysis add-in loaded on my Excel for KM. I have a Harman Kardon AVR525, and I am having success with only one HK preformatted code, the HK_AVR-7200.txt code, for the (obviously) HK7200. At least this one turns my 525 on and off, albeit with sepatate buttons. The general HK-RCVR-0110.txt file does not appear to work for me, nor does the AVR325 file, which I suspected would be very similar to the 525.
Can anyone help me to get a better working code for the 525, or perhaps give me some guidance as to what could be doing wrong? If there is any pertinent detail I left out let me know, as I am a newb. I appreciate the help.

Re: Harman Kardon codes won't work for my AVR525, RS 2116...
Have you tried learning any of the signals from the OEM remote to see how they decode in IR?
Mark
Thanks for the quick follow-up Mark. Unfortunately, I have not yet done that. I spent about 4 hours, late into the night last night just getting the hang of IR and KM.
Being new to this, when I learn some codes from the original remote, and then see how they decode in IR:
1. What exactly am I looking for?
2. What will the results tell me?
Thanks for the help.

greenzee,
Give this file a try using RM(RemoteMaster). I use this in my URC-9910. It works my Harman Kardon AVR8000. They use the same codes. I even added the surround codes to the upgrade. Be sure to paste the Device Upgrade code and the Protocol Upgrade code from RM into IR. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your help. The tuturial was the one I fumbled through last night with success. I'll spend more time on the "creating my own" section later.
The AVR8000 file may be exactly what I need. I have some experience with that receinver and it is a close match to the 525. Thank you very much Wheelie4.
I have KM loaded today, I'll assume using RM is pretty similar? I'll look for a tutorial, but if you have any feedback let me know.
Thanks again.

RM is basicly a Java version of KM in my opinion. Accessibilty wise RM is a bit smoother for me to use. Just remember when you open the file in RM, Choose the correct remote in the Remote dropdown menu at the top then go to the Button tab and rightclick under the Function column next to the button name to change any functions you want associated with a button. Thats the part that took me a little time to find. Ofcoarse it can also be done on the Layout tab by rightclicking on the buttons of the remote pictured.

I don't think any tutorial exists for RM.greenzee wrote: I'll assume using RM is pretty similar? I'll look for a tutorial.
All the concepts are the same as for KM, so you can pretty much use a KM tutorial. The UI is different for RM so you can't follow any KM tutorial in exact detail. But the RM UI fits the objects being managed better than KM's does (it isn't stuck with Excel limitations) so if you grasp the concepts the UI should be obvious.

KM's been around longer. Besides, RM can use KM files, so there's no issue.
