8811 Extender 3.1 - Remote Switches Out of Device

At random times (usually after I've not used it for a while), I press a button to change the channel on my 0477 cable box (although this happens with any device code and any button), it doesn't have any effect. I re-press the device button I'm in and then that button works again. I'm running the 3.1 8811 extender, but I think I've noticed this behavior on the unextended remote as well. I'm sure it's not the batteries de-activating the extender as I've seen in other posts (and experienced myself). Is this some kind of bug (or feature)? Or is it normal? It's happened on every OFA remote I've ever had (4063, 4700, 6012, 8811, etc.).
