Kiss DP-500

Post by subliminal »

Just wondered if anyone had a codeset for the Kiss DP-500 DivX compatible DVD player.. Doesnt seem like there's any on the Yahoo! site or here and my URC-9960 doesn't have a codeset built into it. Anways much appreciated if you do, or if not.. do you have any tips on how to start creating my own codeset with keymap master? Thanks :)

There is a ccf file at Remote Central. Here are the steps:

Use RC5 Protocol, device=25

Select OBC (not EFC)

Here are the commands for the 500:
OBC Function
000 0
001 1
002 2
003 3
004 4
005 5
006 6
007 7
008 8
009 9
012 Power
016 vol+
017 vol-
032 `Track_Forwards
033 `Track_Back
041 Clear
045 `Eject
048 Step
050 `Scan_Back
052 `Scan_Forward
053 `Play/`Pause
054 `Stop
064 Repeat
065 Subtitle
066 Title
067 Menu
068 zoom
069 Audio
070 Mark
072 Back
073 Angle
074 Setup
076 Srch
080 `Right_Arrow
081 `Left_Arrow
085 `Down_Arrow
086 `Up_Arrow
087 Enter

Although not in the ccf file, I would also try:

063 On and
061 Off

These are the most likely to be the discrete power commands in the RC5 protocol.

You might also take a look at this upgrade I made for my DP-508. AFAIK the DP-500 and 508 models are very similar.

Paul,

I was actually trying to figure out how to use that feature myself. Are there any instructions.

Also, how do you get IR into the 9910 mode if you don't have a 9910 to download into IR, that makes it recognize what RDF to use. I assume you first have it looking at the rdf file for the 9910 to enable the wav feature.

I am sure that I am displaying my considerable ignorance :-)

I was probably sleeping in class the day that was covered!

To set IR to the proper RDF just do FILE|SELECT|NEW and select the appropriate RDF. This forces IR to read all the values in the RDF and set itself up accordingly. Both the standard and extendeder RDF's show the 9910 as WAV compatible.

Once you have this the next thing is to make sure you use the TXT version of the file. That's because at this time the JAVA code for the convert only supports the TXT file.

After that you should be able to follow the on screen directions.

To use an rmdu file, you need the RemoteMaster program. To run that you'll need the Sun Java RTE (run time environment). (Java RTE is also required by IRtoWav).

That rmdu file is for a different remote, so once you open it in RemoteMaster you need to change the selected remote to URC-9910 then review/change the assignment of functions to keys on either the Buttons sheet or the Layout sheet.

Then you need to use IR.EXE and create an empty eeprom image for a 9910 (use the File/New command and then select an RDF).

Then you need to go to the Output sheet in RM and press the Copy button for the Device Upgrade, and go to the device sheet in IR and press ADD then control-V, and OK (that copies the upgrade from RM to IR)

Next you need to save the eeprom image as a .txt file from IR.

In the version I'm using (I'm not sure if this is fixed in a newer one) you need to reopen that saved .txt file in IR.EXE before it will run IRtoWav for you.

Then select "Convert file to wav" then "upgrades" from the file menu.

It should make the .wav file (named Upgrade.wav in the directory where IRtoWav is located).

If you ran IrToWav yourself, its default is to make a .wav of the whole eeprom image, not just the upgrades. Before doing that you'd need to program all your setup codes, KeyMoves and Macros into IR.EXE. Otherwise playing the .wav would destroy all that info.

If you make a .wav of upgrades only, it can go into the remote without changing your setup codes, keymoves, macros etc.

You may find that you prefer to select setup codes and define KeyMoves and Macros in IR.EXE rather than on the remote itself. That certainly makes it easier to keep track of what you've done. It also lets you assign shifted buttons and many of the buttons that are red in RemoteMaster's buttons sheet (meaning they can't go in the body of the upgrade, but only as keymoves). In that case be sure to find out all the info currently programmed in your remote (that you want to duplicate) before trying the first whole eeprom image .wav file, which overwrites it all.
