What is the purpose of "AUD:2000-2003 and VCR/DVD:1614" devices and protocols listed under the Device tab in IR for the 6131 ext1? I deleted them as I could not see a need for extra devices, but can't get the extender to work correctly with a modified version of the setup, etc that worked great for my 8810.
Thanks

The only devices that are needed for the extender are TV:1800 which is the loader (required), VCR/DVD:1800, TV:1101,TV:1104,:TV:1106 which are special protocols. If you are not using ToadTog, Device Multiplerer, Pause, DSM, or LKP the specials could be removed.
I have no idea however what the ones you mentioned are. I can only assume that they were picked up from the original IR file that was used as input to the ExtInstall.exe when you installed the extender.
Why don't you put the original IR file and the extender IR file in a zip file, upload it to the diagnostics file area at jp1 yahoo and put a link to it here so we can get a look at it.

Thanks for the quick response. You are correct. the extra devices came into being when I used the manually created info in the 6131 as the basis for installing the extender. I have no idea why they were there as all I did was put in the device codes for my equipment. I have uploaded the non-extended file to the Yahoo site as 6131basicB.txt along with my final extended effort as 6131extB8.txt. The extra devices (AUD;2000 etc.) were deleted for the 6131extB8 file and macros, key moves, etc. were added to make the remote operate just like my 8810 with the same equipment. The only changes between the two remote programs is the change in button/function codes to reflect the 6131 instead of the 8810. Everything works fine except that the VCR will not turn on or off as a result of the macros. I suspect the toadtog section, but can't find the problem. Hope that you can help. Also, I don't know how to properly provide the link to the other site and uploads. Hope I have given you enough info.
Thanks

I may have figured out how to provide links from the "stickie" info.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... 1basic.txt and
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... 1extB8.txt
Hope that this is correct and helps.

Not being familiar enough with your devices and what the keycodes do I am having trouble following your upgrade to determine why the VCR macro does not work. Part of the problem I am having is also due to the heavy use of the native device buttons in shifted and xshifted states.
I suggest a simple approach where:
-Short keypress macro on Shifted-Device button
-Long keypress macro on xShifted device button
-ToadTogs are on the phantoms in each device used on the above
-The LKP function itself on a phantom in each device
-Then a macro on the actual device button that has just the X_Dev and the phantom for the LKP.
This would eliminate what I fear is happening where you may be getting into a loop or at best the TT's are cancelling each other.

Thanks Nils. I will give your approach a try. My approach was based on what I could follow of the approach outlined in a document concerning the extender for the 8810 by Greg. Of course, I may have misunderstood some of his steps. It does seem a bit convoluted, but it worked great on the 8810. By the way, the extra device codes (AUD:2000, etc.) came with the 6131 as it arrived from BlueDo. I checked the original (prior to manually installing my equipment device codes) IR file. I still don't know if they serve any necessary purpose.

I can't guarentee that my approach will solve all your problems but it will be easier to follow in the end.
My guess on the extra devices when you got it from BlueDo is that it is the configuration they use to test the remote after they make the mods for jp1. I would do a factory (981) reset on the remote and save that as your base for building your upgrade.

I can tell you what those are then as I put them there. The VCR/1614 code is a modified version of the ReplayTV code that has all the buttons populated and includes the "3 minute skip" function. If you don't have ReplayTV you don't need this upgrade. The other "2000" series upgrades are all for the C-1024 box that BlueDo sells for Bose devices that are RF controlled, so unless you're using any Bose gear, you don't need those either.

Thanks Rob and Nils for the info. I cleaned up the approach a little, but the change that made everything work was to use a different device code for my VCR. I initially used device code 1062 as that seemed to give me the most inherent capability, but changing to 0162 and adding in the extra capabilities by key moves, etc. caused everything to start working correctly. I haven't a clue as to why 1062 did not work as it did fine in the non-extender mode.
Thanks again and isn't this fun.
