JP1 Connector Orientation - How is your remote setup?

If you hold your remote with the JP1 header at the top and facing you as shown in the picture, where is pin 1 located?

I read where someone said the plug on there JP1 cable was backwards but it all depends on what remote you are using. In my opinion, a JP1 cable fits best when the cable lays over the remote and to obtain this you need to know where pin 1 is.

Can anyone confirm that all remotes from the same manufacturer (OFA, RS, RCA, etc) are setup the same way? I don't think they are.

It would also be nice to add the jp1 pin orientation to the Remote Chart list.

For example:

Radio Shack 1994, 1995, 2117 - top right
RCA RCU810 - top right
Replay 5000 - bottom left

All my remotes (15-1994, 15-2104, URC-6012w, URC-8810w, URC-6131) have the connector oriented with pin 1 at the lower left when viewed from the back with the remote pointing up.

Mine are also the same way. 15-2116, 15-2104, 6131, 60x's, 80x's, 8040 (pads), 8060 (pads), 9960 (pins soldered in by Rob).

Personal opinion, I like the cable going away from the bottom, not laying on the remote. This way I can lay the remote on the table face up with the wire hanging over the edge.

Lower left for all of mine as well. That includes the usual suspects, but also the Navigators, 15-1925, Replay/Showstopper v1, etc.

Most US remotes are oriented like the 15-1994, while most European remotes are oriented the other way.

Thanks guys. The problem with it not laying across the remote is that on some remotes, the jp1 plug is short and you have to bend the attached cable up to fit the plug in. It just seems to fit better on most remotes I have used when it lays along the remote.

It also depends on how you hold your remote when you look at it. As in the original pics, the connector is at the top of the remote. For example, if holding my 1994 or 1995 with the connector up, pin 1 is upper right.

Hey Tom,
Just FYI, your are holding the remotes upside down compared to how we normally hold them when we ask where pin1 is.

For example, if you asked me where pin1 is on the 15-1994, I'd lower lefthand corner.

My JP1 cable did not have a marking for Pin 1. Luckily, the first time I put it in, I put it in the right way. =)
