KM startup error? enable vba for applications?

Post by baldu050 »

Hi,
When I load up the keymaster excel file i get the following errors:

Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost.

followed by:

Microsoft Excel File Repair Log

Errors were detected in file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\Jp1\keymap-master-v8.17.xls'
The following is a list of repairs:

Lost Visual Basic project.
Lost ActiveX controls.

I have my macro security set at low. The file is local, so I'm not sure what the first error message means.

I'm running office xp pro. The spread sheet comes up, but the main buttons (load etc) do not work. I have the the analysis toolpak and analysis toolpak - vba addins installed.

Any insight would be appreciated.

thanks,
bald

If the recovery reported a lost VB project, that would explain why none of the buttons work.

Are you opening KM using Excel's File, Open command, or by double-clicking it or a shortcut?

It sounds to me like a corrupt file, possibly from a bad download. I would try to download it again and see what happens.

It happens either when double clicking as a shortcut or opening via the file-open menu in excel.

I see that version 8.18 was posted. When I download that, winzip does not see it as a valid archive. I thought maybe something was up with my computer, so I went and downloaded 5 or 6 other zip files, but they all opened fine.

Is something wrong with the linked file?

Have you tried v8.18 yet? Does it work, or do you still get the errors?

sorry, i should have updated the thread.

v8.18 (after the upload was fixed) worked fine. Was probably something wrong with 8.17 as I did not change anything between trying the two versions.
