JP1 Remotes

Greetings All,

Currently my XR5 Comcast Remote is programmed for power on/off and volume on my Vizio Soundbar. The issue I'm having is that with the TV also programmed the volume changes for both devices when using the remote. I've searched to the end of the earth and have been unable to return a volume lock for these remotes. Anyone have a clue if this is possible?

Also, I'm such a noob on the XR5. Are these JP1 compatible remotes? Thanks in advance for the tolerance/help.

Your remote is sending codes for your TV volume as it should. It is not sending commands to both. You have either enabled HDMI control so those commands are passed to the soundbar over HDMI, or you have programmed the soundbar to also respond to the TV volume commands. In short, the remote isn't the problem. Either reconfigure the soundbar or turn off HDMI control or use optical/coax instead of HDMI or disable your TV speakers entirely. Review the soundbar manual for details.

As far as I know, the XR5 is not JP1. But older JP1 Comcast remotes can control your box and are very cheap on ebay, if you want to get one.
