There is an outstanding issue with the Standard Sky+HD remote accessible when setting up a Slingbox.

It does not allow you to type letters (eg, press no.3 key 3 times to get the letter F).

This never mattered before as Sky setup does not require any user info to be input in this way but now with all the on demand and catchup content available on Sky, they have added a search facility which of course requires the ability to access the letters on the number keys. I wanted to watch the Rocky series of movies the other day and had to scroll through over 100 pages to find them. Just need to use the Search facility and type 'rocky'.

With the standard remote for example, if you want to type the letter 'F', you should click the '3' key, three times. But instead of an 'F' you get 'DDD'.

I am sure I saw a forum post either on here or another forum where a fixed remote had been posted (more than likely an 'alanrichey' piece of genius), but for the life of me, cannot find that post anywhere now.

Does anyone have this revised Slingbox .bin file to share??

I think what I did was to change the repeat rate to zero so that only a single IR burst is sent instead of the default 3 bursts. This should mean that rapid presses of the digits should give you the letters. Try

Pretty sure that was the one but It won't install on my Slingbox 350.

Tried both files but get the same error message:

Invalid custom bin file, click here for more help.

Any fix?

I'm a muppet, ignore my last post!

Forgot that the error does not in fact mean there is a problem with the .bin file, but actually means you should spend more time checking you have entered the correct path!

Testing it now, will come right back with my results.

OK, loaded it but it does not have the Sky+HD Skin. This bit I have not encountered before, what can I do?

Also, when testing and trying to enter the letter 'F' by pressing the '3' button 3 times I still get 'DDD'

Pretty sure this is not the bin I saw before. I remember because I asked a stupid question about the Sky Skin in the post and got a blunt answer in reply indicating that it was obviously the Sky Skin.

Right, for anyone else looking for this solution I have found the original post, with instructions on how to get the correct Skin.

The cause of this is that the standard virtual remote on Slingboxes sends 3 copies of the IR Stream with quite a delay, to make sure the receiver gets it. I have built a Custom Remote for the Sky HD box that resets this so only one copy of the IR Signal is sent, and that makes entering letters practical.

Select Satellite, but instead of selecting Custom, select Sky and then Custom. That way you will get the proper remote image.

Actually the README file in the BIN file I sent you has the link to the latest copy of the instructions, where that is painstakingly described.

Do you still get DDD though ?

Yes. Have tested now on both a Sling 350 and a Pro HD.

On the 350 the Skin loads but you still get DDD

On the Pro HD the Skin does not load (as the 'Custom' option seems to have been removed from the setup screen) but the remote did give me an 'F'!!

Looks like this matter is not fixable on a Slingbox 350 or a ProHD

Which problem exactly are you suffering from, please provide more specifics.

Assuming it's an inability to enter letters, have you tried the Custom Remote in the File Section with the repeat rate set to zero ?

Thank you for your prompt responses. I didn't try it as I assumed an earlier poster had and they didn't get it to work.

I will give it a try. I'm using a slingbox 350 so I'll update the thread with my findings.
