Reprogramme single keys on remote control?

Post by T.aurus »

Hello!
I have got a Slingbox Solo that works just fine with me Pace satellite receiver.
Anyway I would like to control the On/Off switch of my Dreambox 8000 with the pace remote as well.
To do this I thought it might be possible to take one of the keys on the Pace remote and replace it with the Dreambox's On/Off code.
The idea behind this:
The Dreambox can be controlled online once it is switched on.
And I like to be able to programme recordings while I am not at home. I do not like to watch TV with it remotely.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers Guido.

I moved this to the slingbox forum, because the answer is different for a slingbox. On a remote we could easily do this. On the slingbox, I think if you could do it at all it would be a miracle. The dreambox uses an xmp signal. I don't know what your Pace box uses, pace changes up all the time. I do know the xmp is a very difficult protocol to tweak.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Vicky is quite right, the Slingbox system only supports a single IR Protocol per remote.

Thanks for your quick responses.
I thought it was easy to fix by just changing the code for one key... :/
So is there any other way to trigger the Dreambox's on/off key with any other device?
Thanks again.

Just configure one of the unused inputs (S-Video) to control the Dreambox. There won't be any video of course but you switch to that input just to turn the Dreambox on then switch back to main input.
