JP1 Remotes

I have an aftermarket android TV box that I'm trying to get the bin file for. I purchased an All For One remote from Radioshack. (oarusb04g). I was effective able to program it to the android box but was having issues extracting the code with the IR.exe and the supported file that I downloaded. Is the remote a JP1 remote? I couldn't tell from the packaging. If not, where do I get the required JP1.* remote and the cables. The software wouldn't recognize the remote to download the files.

If I understand you correctly, you have an Android TV which you would like to control with a Slingbox, have purchased a OARUSB04G to find the appropriate IR protocol and codes, and wish to build a Slingbox bin file with that information.

RMIR does support the OARUSB04G using the USB cable supplied with the remote, so no additional purchases are necessary. Strictly speaking, the OARUSB04G isn't a JP1 remote, and we tend to refer to it and similar remotes as Simpleset remotes. But the underlying microcontroller and programming are very similar to the remotes which we refer to as JP2 or JP3.

For Simpleset remotes, you must use an alpha release of RMIR version 2.03. See the Simpleset RMIR thread for some additional info. Support for Simpleset remotes has been added only recently, so please be tolerant of incomplete documentation.

Also note that Slingboxes are programmed with files which have a file name ending in .bin. Simpleset remotes are programmed with files which have a file name ending in .bin, but which employ a completely different format. It's important to not confuse the two kinds of files.

The first step is to get the OARUSB04G talking to RMIR.

Or tell me the make and model of the TV and I can do it for you. Depends if you want to learn how to do it yourself.

Since the simpleset documentation is incomplete, can someone please assist me. I'm trying to program a CX-s859 android tv box bin file into the slingbox. The manufacture is ASD and the model number is ASA-113-03H

I spoke too soon. Struggling slightly as you give 2 different model numbers. If I Google "CX-s859" I get a box made by AmLogic not ASD ? and if I Google ASA-113-03H I get nothing at all.

Not that it matters, as I get the IR Codes from the Logitech Harmony IR database and that doesn't recognise ASD or AmLogic as manufacturers. So apparently no-one with this device has used it on a Harmony Remote.

So I have hit a brick wall. Sorry.

I believe amlogic is the chipset in the unit. Can you assist me with trying to figure it out with the simple set remote. I'm clueless as what to do.

I contacted the person that sold it to me and they said the Chinese name of the company is Aishida but the brand name is under ASD. I'm not sure if that helps. I was able to find the code with the simple set remote but wasn't successful with extracting the code from the remote. It also seems like a lot of steps after extracting the code that I'm unsure of how to execute.

If you have a partially working setup code, or even better, all of the signals from the OEM remote learned into the OARUSB04G, just plug the OARUSB04G into your computer. It will show up looking much like a USB flash drive. Download Settings.bin from the OARUSB04G, and upload it to the Diagnostics file section here. Post a link to the bin file in this thread, and also tell us which device button is controlling the android box.

We can take it from there.

If you want to do this yourself, start by installing RMIR on your computer, plug in the OARUSB04G, and click the download button.

Please click on your link, and then click Edit. Make sure that the last box (labeled File URL) is empty. We would use this box only if we want to make a reference to a file somewhere else on the web. I tried to edit your link myself to remove the entry settings.bin, but wasn't successful. In your case the file is on your computer, and it should be specified in the box File Upload, where the box probably has Choose File entered.

After you've completed the edit, try out the download yourself by clicking on your link in your post, just to make sure that the file will be downloaded.

Here's an RMDU file which I think Al can turn into a Slingbox bin file.

I started RMIR 2.03, clicked File Open, chose your settings.bin file, and went to the Learned Signals tab. There I could see your 11 learned signals, and that these are NEC1 IR protocol, device 0, and the various OBC (function) numbers. I selected all 11 signals, which enabled the Convert to Device Upgrade button (I had previously checked Options/Advanced/Learned to Upgrade conversion). Clicking Convert to Device Upgrade generated the upgrade. I saved the RMDU file and posted it here.
