I have a RS 15-2117 and I'm trying to learn in buttons for a JVC Receiver (RX-1028V), since the RS doesn't have a code for the JVC. Although the 2117 seems to learn in the buttons OK, when I download to IR, the EFC's are the same for all buttons. I've tried re-learning, but no help.

Any idea as to why I would have this problem, and what the solution might be?

Thanks,
Dean

My first guess is that IR.EXE is decoding the signals with its built-in old decoders rather than finding DecodeIR.dll. Did you put DecodeIR.dll where IR.EXE can find it?

Beyond that, it's best to upload the eeprom image (From IR's file save command) containing those learned signals to the Yahoo JP1 diagnosis folder. Then we can tell what is really happening rather than guess.

I had DecodeIR.dll (dated 2/5/04, 100k) in the same directory as IR. I also tried changing the batteries of the original remote, as noted in another message in the group. No luck.

I uploaded the image to the diagnosis folder. Here's the filename:

RS15-2117_djhansensr.txt

Thanks for your help.

I re-named your file as it's not a good idea to give memory dumps the .rdf extention, plus I changed it to a link.

It's always a good idea to provide links to files to make it easier for the experts to help you.

Well your commands ARE different from all the other JVC commands that I have seen. I found a ccf file at RC for the exact model. The RX-1028 apparently uses two different commands somewhat like Pioneer. Command one is JVC{1} for dev 1 /obc 1 + four JVC{2} for dev 1 /obc 1

Command two is a perfect JVC (meaning JVC{1} + repeating JVC{2}) for dev 2 /obc 2 If two commands are listed then it was consistent with the above.

The interesting question is that since most JVC receivers use the same single device 163 commands without the 175:110 prefix, will the regular JVC commands work. I just Posted Audio_1074 in the JP1 Yahoo group files|devices|audio that adds the old Audio_0074device code to the 2116. Please upload that simple upgrade (that uses device 163 only) to your 2116 and try some of the commands to see if they work. The Power commands didn't appear to be good learns in the ccf file, so manually turn the unit on and check a few of those commands and see if they do annything. The numeral 0 in the upgrade should select CD.

I used the 163 device code and the associated OBC's, and they worked! The power button turned out to be 163:23.

The only outstanding issue is that there are a few buttons on the original remote, such as the arrow keys, that use the 175 device code. Any idea on how to handle this one?

Also, I can now see how useful these ccf files can be. Since I'm fairly new at this, how do you use/view the ccf's to extract this info?

Thanks for all of the help. Now I can release the remote to the wife and kids!

Use the DecodeCCF utiliity somewhere in the Yahoo JP1 group (sorry, I can't give you a link, Yahoo's being flaky right now for me). But I know DecodeCCF is there Smile

Create a device upgrade with JVC protocol and device 175. Don't put anything in the functions tab. Paste into IR and upload to the remote. Don't assign it to to any device button. Then use it in key moves to the right keys.

The only thing I would add to Jason's advice is to make sure you download the latest DecodeIR.dll and put it in your windows\system directory. Delete or rename DecodeIR.dll in your folder that contains IR.exe and all the rdf files. Otherwise, you won't be using the latest dll to decode the greatest number of commands.

You can also download IRTool and you can then paste in Pronto hex and decode the commands located in the files|Pronto|discrete section at Remote Central. All files are in the JP1 Yahoo group under files|tools or programs.
