Hi guys

I need to use my remote STB by keeping some keys pressing during several seconds.

¿Did someone know how to simulate the key press during several seconds?

Is this a function that can't be done using repeated keypresses?


I'm not quite sure if the sling box has any controls for hold time. We'll n3ed to here from Alan on that


I think this would behave more like the keypresses in a macro in our jp1 remotes. We can sometimes make tweaks a protocol to make it so that different keys have different hold times but its a difficult process. A lot depends on how complicated the protocol is. The repeat rate would need to be fixed for the individual keys. Experimenting with the timing can be frustrating. The button press would have a fixed hold time, you still would not have the kind of control that you have with a real remote where you hold until you reach the state you are trying to reach.

No, the Slingbox does not support long keypresses. Having said that, if the protocol could be tweaked to make an individual key repeat a number of times then that might work. Way beyond my capabilities though, I struggle with just setting the repeat rate to zero

Yes sometimes it is possible to tweak a protocol to make individual keys hold for a pre- determined number of repeats. Normally we need to do this to make a macro work on our remotes. We used to do this a lot when extenders were so popular. Sometimes we have done this for the slingbox too. I've done this for a few slinbox users when the power button wouldn't work with no repeats but the arrow keys were skipping if the hold was too long.
