I recently had a problem creating a macro for an activity. I updated to the latest version of rmir and it works as expected. Are you using the latest version?

Yes. I tried a more detailed answer, but got an error message.

P.S. Now tried to add the details in ?Edit?, but got the error message again.

@rsbrux:

The .rmir file you have posted is corrupt and gives an error message when attempting to load it. I have deleted the corrupt macro entry and posted it as mod1 here. This now loads without error and I find I can create a new Activity in it without problem.

@mathdon:
Thanks, but that didn't help. When I load your file, I see the same error for the new activity that I added:
Code:

05F68    <activity 01 15> 08 4E 00 41 00 53 00 20 00 76 00 69 00 61 00 20 00 54 00 56 00  Activity8=NAS via TV
05F7F      <macroref 03 02> FF 00 </macroref 83>  Macro error: macroMap is null for macroref = -1

When I add the activity macro, I still see the same error: Wohnzimmer28
And when I upload it to the remote, the activity still doesn't work. Here is the file as re-downloaded from the remote, which once again shows the activity macro as empty.

P.S. The result is the same if I delete the faulty activity completely and add it back again. Only the error in activities.xcf in the XSight File Data tab is slightly different from yours (but the same as I originally had):
Code:
05F68    <activity 01 15> 08 4E 00 41 00 53 00 20 00 76 00 69 00 61 00 20 00 54 00 56 00  Activity8=NAS via TV
05F7F      <macroref 03 02> 73 00 </macroref 83>  Macro error: macroMap is null for macroref = 115

P.P.S. Even if I take an older functioning RMIR file and add a new activity, the same error appears for the new activity in activities.xcf.

I don't have a problem adding a new activity (and activity macro) with version 2.14.16, which is the version I was using before upgrading to version 3.0.15. I have uploaded an RMIR file created with 2.14.16 to the diagnosis area. The only problem I have with it is that the second TV - cursor right command in the new activity macro is ignored.

P.S. An attempted workaround for the ignored command (inserting a dummy TV command in between the 2 "rights") didn't work.

PostPosted: Wed Jul 10, 2024 11:33 pm    Post subject: New bug in RMIR 3.x Reply with quote

I have now reproduced the problem in RMIR 3.0.3, so I suspect that it was introduced in 3.0. I didn't bother to try 3.0 because I saw that there were important bug fixes in 3.0.1 and 3.0.3.
Existing activities are handled properly in 3.0.3, but the Activity Macro in a newly created activity fails to work.
I cannot find the expected error in the XSight File Data tab, because the view of activities.xcf never loads. Instead, the status bar just shows "PROCESSING..." indefinitely.
When I try to download the resulting configuration from the remote, it appears to succeed, but when I try to view activities.xcf in the XSight File Data tab, I get the "Error downloading from remote" popup.
A zip file containing a screenshot of the error message and the requested raw download is uploaded here.

In case it helps, I can confirm that RMIR 2.14.18 can also create a new activity with a working macro. This is the version I will be using for the time being.
The ignored "TV - right" command appears to be a timing problem.

@rsbrux

I see that I didn't delete enough from Wohnzimmer27 in my previous post. I have now deleted what I believe to be enough from Wohnzimmer28 and posted that as Wohnzimmer28mod1 in the same location here. If you still cannot add your NAS via TV activity, please post (a) the .rmir file that loads correctly to which you are adding the new activity and (b) full details of the new entry that you are adding in the Activities panel, as this has passed my testing.

In RMIR 3.0.15 I cannot even add the desired new activity to Wohnzimmer28mod1. When I do so, activities.xcf once again shows the same type of error I have encountered every time I attempt to add an activity using RMIR 3.0.15:
Code:
05F68    <activity 01 15> 08 4E 00 41 00 53 00 20 00 76 00 69 00 61 00 20 00 54 00 56 00  Activity8=NAS via TV
05F7F      <macroref 03 02> 73 00 </macroref 83>  Macro error: macroMap is null for macroref = 115

You will find the result uploaded as Wohnzimmer28mod2.
The results when uploaded to the remote are the same as before:
  1. Selecting the new activity on the remote does not transmit any commands.
  2. If I download the resulting configuration from the remote (Wohnzimmer28mod3), the activity macro for "NAS via TV" is empty.

I am sorry for the long delay in replying, but I have been busy with personal matters far removed from JP1.

If I understand your last message correctly, then if I load Wohnzimmer28mod2 into RMIR 3.0.15 then XSight File Data > activities.xcf should show
Code:
05F68    <activity 01 15> 08 4E 00 41 00 53 00 20 00 76 00 69 00 61 00 20 00 54 00 56 00  Activity8=NAS via TV
05F7F      <macroref 03 02> 73 00 </macroref 83>  Macro error: macroMap is null for macroref = 115

It doesn't for me, it shows
Code:
05F68    <activity 01 15> 08 4E 00 41 00 53 00 20 00 76 00 69 00 61 00 20 00 54 00 56 00  Activity8=NAS via TV
05F7F      <macroref 03 02> 73 00 </macroref 83>  Macro=Key:Receiver All/Soft2(8.0);Key:Panasonic TV/Soft2(8.0);Key:Panasonic TV/Soft8(4.0);Key:Panasonic TV/Right(4.0);Key:Panasonic TV/Right(4.0);Key:Panasonic TV/OK(4.0);Key:Panasonic TV/Down(4.0);Key:Panasonic TV/OK(4.0);Key:Rcvr Main/7(0.3)

so I cannot reproduce your error.

If I have misinterpreted your message, please explain in more detail how to reproduce your error, as I can go no further without being able to do so.

No problem; thanks for responding!
You have summed up the situation perfectly, and I am equally puzzled that the problem is not reproducible.
Since you have no problem with my file, I must assume that it is not corrupt.
The only thing I can think of that might be different between our two installations is the Java engine. I have recently updated mine (to version 8 update 421). I will try again to see if that made a difference and get back to you.

I have just tried with Java 8 update 241 rather than Java 14 which I was using for my previous test, but the result is identical, no error, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. Are you using Windows or Linux? I can't see why that would make a difference, but I suppose it might.

I am using Windows 10 Pro x64 with 32-bit java. I am guessing you are on Linux, because no higher version of java is offered me on Windows, unless this is a confusion of the java versioning. The actual version of my java is 1.8_421, but they have been calling the java 1.x versions just 'java x' for a long time now. I have a Linux machine as well. but prefer to use the Windows machine. The Linux machine is home-built and needs both new HW and SW, which I haven't had time to install.
Once again, many thanks for all the effort you have invested in RMIR!
