URC-9910 IR/RF command center replacment

Strange, while trying to resolve a cable box/remote control issue I've tentatively lost a relatively new URC-9910 IR/RF command center. Currently, it doesn't respond to the remote; it's in the same position as it was for a few years. Any leads as to what may have caused this or is there a fix? The only change incurred (before the problem started) was that I relearned the CBL remote control keys because I used another CBL code and uploaded them to the URC-9910 remote via rdmu/ir files.

It's plugged into a surge protector (as it has been for years) with all of the outlets occupied. I plugged it into a separate outlet with the same null response. The weather's been very humid so I'm hoping this might be an issue. The unit has not taken any physical spills etc. I NOTICE THE RED IR LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN A BUTTON IS PRESSED. The device works when pointed directly (still no red light).

How do Next Generation IR command centers compare to the URC-9910 IR/RF center..... recommended? If recommended, is there a difference between the 418/h33 mhz devices?

I am not familar with what the base unit, so I don't know how you can tell if it lost communication. If you determined that it lost communication just because it stopped operating your equipment. then I have a theory.

Have you downloaded from the remote, to take a look at what is actually in your EEPROM? Is it the same as what you loaded up? If not, then you did something wrong and the remote reset to the default setup codes, and will not operate your equipment.

Did you try new batteries? Uploading and downloading from the remote can really drain batteries. Even though the remote flashes it might not have enough oomph to send the signal.

I have no idea how to check RF, but you can check IR with any digital camera, (like the one on your phone). Does the IR emitter on the base unit send anything?

The remote operates equipment when pointed directly. It's just that the IR/RF command center does not work. I have a few macros that are depended on the IR/RF center.

Initially "The Robman" helped me determine the modem ring was unglued. I glued the back of it. At the point the IR bulb may have become disengaged (solder point)?

Are you familiar with the red light that flashes when you click on a button on the remote? That red light no longer flashes after a button is pressed; which I think primarily communicates with the command center. I've disassembled the remote to see if there's a disconnection but can't make heads or tails of it yet. Thanks!
