Finally, I ordered a DIYGadget USB JP1.2/3 cable AND a JP1 adapter. After attaching the adapter 180 degrees and installing the driver... IT NOW WORKS! I have five JP1 remotes that have life left in them... and when they die, I'll buy some JP1.2 or JP1.3 units.

I tried everything to get my old parallel cable interface working in Win 7 64 bit... Tired every tip in every forum thread. The 64 bit ParallelIO is just darned goofy.
Finally, I ordered a DIYGadget USB JP1.2/3 cable AND a JP1 adapter. After attaching the adapter 180 degrees and installing the driver... IT NOW WORKS! I have five JP1 remotes that have life left in them... and when they die, I'll buy some JP1.2 or JP1.3 units.
