urc 8810

Post by Miguel Pichardo »

I know that some will say "here we go again", but I have not choice.
I bought the urc 8810 and was looking for an advance code in the internet for a 2nd dvd player (Yamakawa 218), for which I could not find a code, and to my surprise a found alot of posting about the urc 8810 and what can be done with it.
I ordered a jp1 cable from hovis direct, and I was expecting some kind of instructions on where and what files to download, there was no instructions included, I then went to the internet, but I could not tell where to begins.
I asked and received and E-mail to go to jp1 forum for the information, I did that but again I was not able to know where to start, I can follow directions if I have an idea of where to start, is not possible to simple try to read ALL the posted messages.
I need detail information of what files to download, such as download this file, download that file, etc, I am not a hacker or computer expert, just a guy who is intrigued of what can be done with the URC 8810 ( more than the instructions that came with the remote).
Thank you for your patince and understanding

Miguel,

Welcome to the world of JP1. Part of what is confusing you is this: While we're using this site for JP1 discussion, the files necessary to use JP1 are on the Yahoo group (link). The second folder listed (1. Help) contains help documents that will outline what JP1 can do, while the third folder (2. Tools) contains the tools you need to use your JP1 cable.

To get access to the Yahoo group, you'll need to have a Yahoo account and you'll need to join the JP1 group.

The help documents are contain lots of information (and can seem overwelming at first). But reading them is no where near as bad as reading all the messages here :) Why don't you try reading some of the help documents and come back when you have more questions.

I have the same DVD player and learned the buttons. The final result is below.

5A 00 DE FE FE E1 00 5F 5F 6D 37 F7 77 0F CF 4F
2F EF 6F 55 57 3F 8F 47 A7 E7 7D C7 9F 45 C5 17
27 ED C5 75 DD E5 D7 AF CD 65 67

Type: VCR/DVD

Setup Code: 0857

What you need to do is launch IR401 (could be earlier release) and under the Devices tab do an Add and past the above 3 lines of hex code and fill in the Type and Setup Code per the above. Next go to the general tab and assign the code 0857 to a button such as DVD.

Let me know if it works.

Go to the jp1 forum does not help me, I am too green to see what files I need.
How about somebody that have dealt with a beginner give me a little more help than "go to the jp1 forum, and you will find what you need", for me that is not enough help, I see the files, I read many of the files (too many to read all of them), but still I need help like "download this file, download that file, unzip this file,do this, and then do that"
I guess that's qualify as instructions for a dummy, but I do not have enough experience to see the horse when it is smiling at me, maybe I should just give up.

Ok, Miguel, this might help:

First get JP1_For_Beginners_Rev1.1 and *print it out* and take your time reading it through:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... Documents/

(Note: to get rid of highlighting in Word so you can print, hit Cntrl-A, then go to the highlight icon on the top toolbar & hit the tiny dropdown box and select "none".)

Then goto http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files/2.%20Tools/ and get the following as well:
IR402.zip
RDF's for IR and RM version 1.14.zip
Devices4.zip
key-master.zip

Read the JP1_For_Beginners_Rev1.1 and you will see that digittize gave you a gift by saving you alot of hunting. So you can just copy and paste what he posted.

I know it seems overwhelming, but give yourself some time to digest it.

Hope this helps.
