Bad Signature? Device buttons fail to make light go on?

I am still a newbie, but have done some reading :-)

Anyway, I seem to be having a devil of a time programming a URC 6131m purchased from www.surfremotecontrol.com (along with JP1 cable). Sometimes when I upload the same configuration I just downloaded, IR gives me a "Bad Signature" error. Also, sometimes after uploading an upgrade code (with a code number of 1156) the device button for it will stop working completely (no light comes on when I press that device button). I know this worked once before, and I didn't do anything different.

A 3rd time, I downloaded the configuration I just uploaded and everything was completely off (completely different code numbers, etc. Like it got corrupted). I closed IR, re-downloaded the configuration and got the same thing.

I just want to know...
A) Is this "normal"?
B) Is this a bad eeprom? Bad JP1 cable?

IR says the remote has plenty of memory available. I can use the built-in codes fine, but whenever I try to program more than 1 or 2 device buttons, it loses its settings.

Thanks for light you can shed on this.

It sounds like the EEPROM might be getting corrupted somehow. You might want to try a 981 reset to see if that helps eliminate any of the problems (remember that the reset will reset everything to the factory defaults).

That seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks!
