Just getting started,Extra device on remote?

I just got my Tommy Tyler cable and it seems to work just fine. I've been following the 'Just how easy is it' thread and reading a number of other beginners threads. So, some questions that I did not yet see answers for.
I have Comcast cable remote, red ok button (URC-1067B...), and three device keys; TV, CBL, Aux.
1. On the General Tab, it shows 4 device keys. The fourth is dev3, type CD/Audio, code 0331. What is that? My device has three keys.
2. I have a code that appears to mostly work for all my 'boxes'. If I just want to make some key changes, add a macro, change VPT, etc can I do all that with the IR.exe tool?
3. The setup codes I punched in for the device buttons are 5 digits. The codes shown in the IR.exe application only show 4 digits. eg Aux shows 1933, I punched in 31933. What's up?

dev3 is what's known as a Phantom Device. You can assign it a setup code and add keymoves and if you setup a macro you can access this 4th device you can access this. This device is included in your "All On" built in macro.

Yes

The first digit in 5 digit Setup codes is the device type.

Thanks
1 Can I manually load a code for the phantom device?
2. If I just change the numbers/entry on the screen of IR.exe and upload, is that enough to change the remote?
3. I saved the stuff I downloaded from the remote as a .IR file. Is that enough to get me back to the starting point?

I'd like to recommend
IRHelp.PDF as a good resource for the types of questions you are asking.

If you want to use a built in device, yes you can manually enter the numbers, but I'd recommend using the code-selector tool in IR8.03.
For the phantom device don't forget you are going to want to setup a macro to press dev3 since that button doesn't exist. I'd suggest setting up a macro on shift-Aux3 for accessing the 4th device. Then pressing setup Aux will put be like you pressed the actual dev3 button.
Macro:
Shift-Aux := dev3

Yes.

In IRHelp.pdf I recommend that you do a rawdownload to get you back to a starting point, since IR makes some silent changes during a normal IR download.

Thanks for the link to the help file. I was looking for IR.hlp and never found it.
It would be useful to have the help file included in the .zip file with the IR.exe. I was not able to get help to work in IR.exe
