Need Wav file for Harmon Kardan AVR125

I just bought a "New" Radio Shack 15-2138 remote from Ebay that no longer has customer support, but I cannot get my Harmon Kardan audio receiver to take any codes, I would love to update the codes with .wav but I have been trying to figure it out and am having trouble.

Can anyone create the wav files for me to try and update? or have a idiots guide ( I have tried following the tutorials, but apparently this buzz is killing my concentration.)

anyways any help would be very appreciated

I didn't see an AVR125 model in the file section. But I did find a Harman/Kardon AVR130 and AVR525 models. Both of these models use a combination of NEC 128.112 and NEC 130.114 signals. Your remote has Audio 1306 which is recommended for the Harmon/Kardon that shoots the correct type of signals.

Looking at the upgrade, I see that there is a discrete on/discrete off but no power toggle. That's probably why you didn't find it with the standard search for power.

Your remote has the Nec1 combo on Aud/1306, the power button should power your unit off but won't turn it on.

If you get partial control of the AVR125 with Aud/1306 or Aud/0110 read further, otherwise the information below does not apply.

Since your remote is an older remote that only uses 3 digit EFC's we need to find the non/combo versions of these protocols to augment your functionality. Your remote has Aud/0110 and Video/0702 to let us use the 3 digit EFC's.

If Aud/1306 works for most functions, the first order of business is to temporarily change to Aud/0110 and test the Power On Command. EFC 002.

Look at the sticky to Manual Programming for instructions on how to do test EFC's and set up keymoves.

If this Audio/0110 EFC 002 turned on your unit, you can then set up a keymove on the Shift-Power button before switching back to AUD/1306.

Most of the functionality can be found on Aud/1306 but if you need any other functionality you can temporarily switch to either Aud/110 or Video/1306 and set up keymoves for the other functions you need.

Thanks for your help, Using both codes I do get some functionality, the 1306 code gives me the most, but its still missing a few things. I can use volume and switch from different sources, but its kinda whacky. The 0110 code allows me to use volume but I do not notice anything else working. I am trying to follow the 2nd part of what you wrote, I am not really understanding the manual programing section, the instructions are for a different type of remote so I do not know how to test the EFC commands you were talking about... I will keep hacking at it and see if I can figure it out.

I've never done manual programming on a Kameleon, so I'm not 100% sure on how this works either.

Since the 15-2138 is a RadioShack remote, I assume that the setup button is a [P]

If you change the setup code to AUD/0110 and then

point the remote at the AVR125
Tap P
type 0 0 2

hold that last 2
Your unit should turn on.

Now that's not very convenient, so you'll want to save that code to a button. It would probably be easiest if you save that on the shifted power key.

Please read the information about setting up EFC style keymoves with 994 instructions. Remember that anywhere it says "setup" it means "P" to you.

Well, I think im doing it right, but it does not seem the 0110 or the video codes are working, I will keep playing with it and see if I can get it to work. I set the video code to the VCR setting, but it does not do anything with the receiver, and never found anything to work the power key... I wish they still had their phone update service so my remote would "never be obsolete" lol... ah well...

The manual is on this page . It explains how to get to the 994 command. To test if you are doing the keymove procedure correctly, assign the EFC for a function that you already know is working with the factory settings on 0110/1306. If the assigned EFC works like the factory button assignment, that's good.

Hmm, I read the instructons for the keymover on pages 28, 29 of the manual. Its a little confusing to me too. Perhaps it would be easier to create a WAV of the keymove area of this remote. I sure am glad I have cables to do this!

to map an advanced code:

1. press and hold P for two blinks
2. press OTHER
3. enter 9-9-4
4. press the DEVICE key
5. press P for one blink
6. enter advanced code
7. pick a key

thanks for your help everyone. It looks like the codes for the 1001 and the video dont work for my receiver. when I plug them in, I cant get anything to work... I wish the company still did the updates over the phone, it would be nice to have the .wav and make life simple...lol

Remote Central had codes for the AVR 125, so I took a shot at making a WAV file.

Upgrade for RS 15-2138.
Additional WAV file for keymoves for shifted buttons.

I believe, but don't know for sure, that you can first install the upgrade, and then add the keymoves. Ordinarily, installing an upgrade by WAV overwrites previous WAV upgrades, but I think these two files will write to separate areas of memory. (One was exported from IR as an upgrade, and the other as keymoves/macro/favs.)

A few functions may have non-obvious button assignments:

Code: Select all

Button Function Shift
CH+ Preset +
CH- Preset -
power Power On Power Off
OK Set
page+ Tune +
page- Tune -
DVD none DVD
CD none CD
AUD none AM/FM
VCR none Vid1
s.sound Surround
