TO start I'm up later than I should be and a bit loopy.
Second I've been away from JP1 for a while so I'm relearning/remembering alot

Ok I ran IR Scope and got a test button (with a recognizable signal).
38k Frequency, NEC1 , Dev 8, Key 6, Hex 9F...

So I'm in KM on the FUNCTIONS tab trying to build a custom upgrade from scratch and I can't enter any field except EFC3, EFC5 or OBC. I can't enter Hex instead?

However RM allows me to enter the Hex and it spits out the correct OBC.

If I'm going to learn with the widget, am I forced to use RM? That is fine but I exclusively used KM in the past...

Is there some way to get the hex info out of IR Scope or enter the HEX info directly into KM?

Maybe I"m just to tired or misunderstood how to use widget properly...

Any help would be useful. Thanks Smile

On the functions tab of KM look at the lower pink help box on the right:

Code:
Hex codes ('00' - 'FF') may be directly entered in column B instead of EFC or OBC values.
Single bytes must have an 'h' as a prefix or suffix (i.e. 'h01' or '01h').
Multiple bytes must be entered with spaces in between each byte
(i.e. '00 11 22 33').

So for your example, put 9fh in column B, giving an EFC of 00182

Entering 6 as an OBC would work, too. (click the grey OBC button first)

I think you may be misunderstanding the column heads in IRScope. "Key" is the OBC, though it sounds as if it is a button number. If you download the current Beta version of IRScope 2.01 here, you will see that I have re-named that column as OBC to avoid any confusion.

Thanks to both of you. I know I shouldn't experiment and post while falling asleep, but the new beta is GREAT! I love the notes column. It will make capturing an entire remote so much better/easier

Make sure you check out the SUMMARY reports on the File menu. When you add Notes, this gives you a very nice place to work from. I dump the whole thing into excel and manipulate the columns for a direct paste into KM. Its really great.

Oh its not real cool, its just easy for me to have all those numbers typed so I don't make any errors.

Basically when I do my recording, I name them all with the NOTES function. I delete any bad/duplicate learns and I arrange them as makes sense.

When I'm done I hit the File Summary button and then copy the first section and paste it in excel. Its tab deliminated so it automatically goes into columns. I then copy the notes section into the functions tab and the OBC's into the OBC column of the function tab in either KM or RM.

This is so much easier than doing a remote to remote learn. No memory challenges. Bad learns can be fixed immediaitely.....Its a great great tool,

Learning
