JP1 Remotes

Hello,

Is this remote JP1 ready ? In other words is it sufficient to put a 6 pin connectors in the remote in order to be able to program it ? Is it then JP1 or JP1.2 or...

Never heard of it. Do you have any more information (pics, instructions, etc.)? I can tell you the 7525 has pins already and is JP1.3. I don't know if it's related to the 7510 or not.

I have no idea, nobody's tried before. Does it have a spot for a 6-pin connector? It's possible that it's missing a couple of other parts too, like a resistor or capacitor, so you'd need to examine the PCB to see if there are any vacant spots.

I opened it and I found missing items as C11, U2, C4 and C5.
On the board self I can read :

That's pretty cool. The barcodes for all the setup codes are printed in the manual, so all you do is scan them rather than enter numbers on the keypad.

We still don't know if it has a place for a connector. Can you post pictures?

The U2 spot is for an EEPROM, so that would need to be added. The "C" spots are for capacitors, which would also need to be added. Is there also a spot for a 6-pin JP1 connector?

We would probably need to see a photo of the PCB that clearly shows the vacant spots in order to tell you what capacitor values that you will need, but for the EEPROM a 2k "16 bit" chip like a 24C16 is what you need.

When you're ordering the parts, remember to get surface mount parts and you'll need to judge the physical size of part needed for the capacitors.

C4 and C5 are loading capacitors for the ceramic resonator, the component on the other side of the board near the bottom edge that is marked "Y1". Some resonators have those capacitors built-in (they each connect to ground) and you can't tell the difference by looking at them. The fact that there are no capacitors in those two positions means that they ARE built-in on your remote. So you don't need to add them.

C11 is to filter noise on the voltage supply to the EEPROM chip, and can be either 0.1MFD or .01MFD, ceramic capacitor, type SMD (surface mount) size 0805 (.080" x .050").

Yes, this remote is (almost) JP1 ready.

I soldered in a 24AA16 EEPROM, a 1uF in C11 and reset the remote via Magic 981. The red LED flashed 4 short flashes showing it had seen the EEPROM.

The signature of the remote is 1BC01BC0 and the bytes that got updated were $000..$011 and $100..$107 :

$000 : C6 39 31 42 43 30 31 42 43 30 02 2C 10 00 00 00
$010 : 00 00
$100 : 01 06 01 06 01 06 00 00

All other bytes were left as $FF.

Of course, you'll still need a suitable RDF file for it...

I had to guess the keycodes for the 3 buttons at the top of the remote as the PCB pics didn't include them.

Do you know if you can do keymoves on this remote (ie, the 994 function) ?

I have added a map and an image to the RDF zip file, but they don't work in RM. I can't see anything wrong with the RDF, so someone else will need to tell us why RM blows up when you try to use this RDF.
