|
|
Hi, I haven't used my JP1 interface for some years but I found I need to change a code in my URC39930 (Dreambox) remote but when I connect the USB cable I am being asked for a TTL232R driver.
Can't remember I've had to install any driver before?
I've copied the file gwiopms.sys to C:\ as well as to the Windows, System and System32 folders.
I've downloaded CDM 2.06.00 WHQL Certified. Unzipped it contains a number of files but I cannot find out how to use any of it. No instructions as far as I could see. My OS is Win2kSp4.
Continued:
I installed a driver from the CM 2.0.6.00 files, but still no response from the interface. I am using IR version 7.09.
The error msg is "Failed to open JP1.x interface" when I run "Check Interface". I presume I need not have a remote connected to the cable when testing.
I downloaded the driver from here: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm.
I've even run the program for automatic installation and now it seems like there is no problem with the device when I look at the control panel\hardware info.
Last update: I found a workaround for the situation where I needed the > key on the remote to enter a - sign when editing a parameter file on the Dreambox so I don't need to use the JP1 this time - hope that day never comes. Since I will be 80 soon, chances are good.

All JP1 USB cables require drivers. The link to the correct drivers is on Tommy's Market Place thread and that's:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
Though, while the URL is different from the FTDI link that you posted, it appears they use the same drivers. _________________ Rob

Thank you, I believe I tried the drivers from there too and may take another look at it some day, maybe under a Win7 system instead of Win2k. Funny though that it wouldn't work, used it a lot a few years back and didn't have any problems with it.
Cheerio,

My FTDI based cable works fine under 64-bit Windows Vista, so I don't think the OS is the problem. _________________ Rob

Basically, the problem is that I've reorganized my system several times since last I used JP1 the program, backing up and reformatting drives, something's got to give. |

Absolutely, the connection will fail if there's no remote to connect to. _________________ Rob
