IRLinc Receiver

Post by garyb.ncc »

I searched the forum but didn't find mention of the IRLinc Receiver - IR to INSTEON Converter http://www.smarthome.com/2411R/IRLinc-R ... ter/p.aspx. It receives IR and can control up to 256, X10 devices and up to 417 Insteon links. I have been considering this device instead of an IR543AH and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

I'm not sure what IR protocol is used, but it comes with a remote and I assume you could be learned.

If it comes with a remote, then yes, the signals could be captured with a JP1 learning remote and we could undoubtedly build an upgrade from them.

The UEI codes that they reference use the following NEC1 device codes:

TV/0030 = NEC1,4
TV/0178 = NEC1,4
VCR/0038 = NEC1,25
VCR/0104 = NEC1,49
VCR/0106 - NEC1,137

The good news is that, if this device responds to TV/0030, this setup code is in almost every US based OFA remote. And even if you get a remote that doesn't have this code, there is almost certainly another setup code that uses a similar profile to the codes listed above.
