Anyway, today I had a search around and suprisingly couldn't find and one for all branded remotes apart from one, a URC2585 which is a very old, very basic one for all remote, controlling 4 functions but doesn't have a large amount of keys on the keypad.

What it DOES have in the back is a J1 connector, which has 3 pins, i'm presuming you just tap into the battery connector for the other 2 (the JP1 connector only uses 5 pins, right?). I understand this remote might not be compatible at all with the JP1 mod. Heres a link to the manual - http://www.rockabilly.net/files/manuals/URC-2585.pdf

The 3-pin connector pre-dates JP1 and we've never found anyone willing to really dig into it. I do have archives of the work that our predecessors did with it on my site. Check the links below:

Does anything exist for the PC which will allow you to 'read' the data coming from a remote? I understand that the JP1 remotes will tell you this, but i'm interested in a PC based interface too if such a thing exists.

Yes, the device you're looking for is called an IR Widget, Tommy sells them here:

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but it seems that we are continuing to find an answer that has already been covered.

Hmm, i've had a look and i'm not sure its worth messing with, if its not going to be easy then i'll not bother.

It seems like the UK and US model numbers are different, can anyone recommend a decent UK model?

Thanks, Dave.

Any OFA remote will work just as long as it has learning. The URC-7781 is a learning remote and is available from Amazon:

You can run Winlirc, a Windows version of Lirc. I made a receiver to plug into the IR header on my computer motherboard. You can make a serial port version.

The J1 connector is not JP1. JP1 is 6 pins. The only thing you likely can do is see what code makes your TV work and tell us.

Nice matrix remote. I'd like one of those someday.
I have kind of "forced" my own brute force remote search using upgrades with successive OBCs, with a known protocol and device code.

I'll bare this in mind, will give it a try tonight possibly, thanks for the headsup.

when I was digging about in one of my junk boxes i found this....

I was wondering if it could possibly be an OFA clone? it has a small LCD display to display the code, device and the configuration menu information. It supports learning, macro's and punchthrough commands.

Its listed as a URC-L-639, and is almost the same as this remote...

http://www.service.targa.co.uk/dokumente/URC_801_manual_EN_CZ_SK.pdf

If anyone recognises it, please let me know.

Thanks, Dave.

It doesn't look like a UEI remote, and I'm betting there's no 6-pin connector.
