I purchased and installed a URC 9910 for my in-laws and it worked flawlessly for several months. Then one day it just stopped sending RF signals to the home base unit. IR still works just fine.
One side of the remote was open a bit, suggesting it could have been dropped. I cracked open the remote and noticed that some of the hot glue holding the RF antenna unit has seemed to come lose. Reapplying hot glue and "locking" the RF unit in place has not fixed the problem.
Anybody have any other troubleshooting tips?
One question I have -- the RF unit slides onto 4 (?) pins that look a little like the JP-1 interface, but they are not soldered or anything and I can't see any metal on the unit itself to complete the connection? I've noticed this when tinkering with other 9910s, though. How exactly does that RF board interface with the remote? |

Nevermind. I found a post that mentioned a similar situation and managed to solder in 4 wires to the traces on the RF pcb. Can't say I want to do anything so delicate anytime soon. |
