8811 and Volume Punch Thru

Post by bagreig »

My fist attempt with JP1 and every thing seems to be going better than I expected. Have a GE TV, Toshiba VCR, RCA Home Theater System HTS-3000 and a Samsung SIR-S4120R TIVO unit. Have used the Keymaster Codes for the HTS and TIVO found in the yahoo files and functional all works well. Volume punch thru is set to the HTS-3000 and works for all devices except for the TIVO unit. When that unit is selected, and volume +/- is pushed, the remote does not seem to send a signal, red light does not blink. Also in looking in IR, the Vol +, Vol -, and Mute are listed as ?Not Mapped?. Do I add codes for these items in Keymaster?

I'm guessing that you used a device mode for Tivo that is different to the native device mode of the device button you selected for it.

For example, you might have created the Tivo upgrade using VCR mode and then programmed it to the SAT button.

Whenever you use the wrong device mode on a device button (which is the equivilent of using the 992 command in a non-JP1 world) VPT is broken.

The easiest answer is to go back to KM and change the mode for Tivo (in my example, you would change it to SAT) and then replace your existing Tivo upgrade.

However, if the proper device mode has alot less buttons enabled in it, you may decide that it's better to just use key moves to fix VPT in this one mode.
