Factory Upgrade choices? URC-10820

I have recently added a third URC-10820 to my stable. As I have been setting it up, I've been having all sorts of weird stuff happen with the codes for a Buffalo Link Theater DVD; even cloning from another remote. The codes don't work. (NEC protocol, I think)

A codes request to UEIC was not answered in a week. I did receive a reply to a re-send. I answered their question; but the exchange stopped there.

Last night I began to recall shipping my first 10820's to OFA for an upgrade. Is there a JP1 way to perform said upgrade? Has anyone had recent successful contact with OFA support?

I noted today that Audiovox has the reins at OFA. Are we in deep doo-doo, support wise?

Lotta questions -- I know. But I'm needy :)

The 10820 should learn the codes from the original remote and work ok if you can't find a workable setup code. From there you could setup the upgrade from the learned keys if you get a JP1.x cable. But honestly, if you only have a couple of devices to learn the 10820 has lots of learning memory. I don't know about official OFA support.

Weird is pretty vague, but I'm guessing that your functions are scrambling.
If so that happens when you do a file->new in IR with a bad RDF file. But that should have been fixed if you did "cloned" a working 10820. Make sure you have the latest RDF for the 10820, the one in the official package is bad.

Hence, my choice of the word "weird"

I'd also try a 981 reset, then download again. Did you get this remote new or used? If it's used, the previous owner could have put anything in there, even in places it didn't belong.
