Hello,

Don't know if I'm posting in the right forum, but I need an upgrade code for my 8910. The device I need the code for is a JVC Receiver, RX-8020, I current;y have the 0074 code that came in the remote's db, but it doesn't include functionality for the menu and arrow keys, which is really what I am trying to accomplish. I hope someone can create this for me as One for all has been apparently and unfortunatley bought out by Audiovox which offers nill support for these remotes, save for an email address. A newer code that assigns these function by default would be greatly appreciated.

Actually I think this belongs in the code search forum with a template.

We have an upgrade for the JPC-RX8010, which will probably cover all the functions for your remote.

You can make your own WAV files with our tools, or you can ask for help. My problem with making the upgrade for you is I there are so many functions, and I'm just not quite sure which functions would be the most helpful for you.

One big question is do you have any other WAV files loaded into your 8910?

HERE's an exact match for the 8020.

HMdude3,

Vicky asks about other upgrades because whatever wav you end up loading wipes out what you've got already. So either be prepared to enter all your codes, macros, etc. again, or tell us exactly what you've got programmed now so it can go in the new wav file. Also let us know if any JVC functions are especially important since they won't all fit.

Better yet, download IR, RM, the RDF files and RM Images HERE. Then fire up RM and open the linked file above. Pasted the upgrade and protocol into IR and make your own wav any way you like (in the IR program that's File - Export to Wav - Entire Image).

There's a little learning curve, but it's worth the effort. Check out THIS beginner's document that has all the steps in detail. It talks a lot about cables, but you don't need one for your purposes.

There's usually more than one way to skin a cat. I wouldn't load the comprehensive upgrade linked by mdavej into the remote, because most of the space will be wasted. Instead look at that upgrade (using RM or KM; I find RM less intimidating) and see that 50 out of 70 functions are JVC protocol using device 163. The 5 functions that you don't have are all device 175. Device 179 appears to be service related, and the remaining 8 (which appear to be related to balance among the various speakers) are JVC-48.

Almost all of the functions you need are already in your remote on 0074. If the 8910 had setup codes 1374 or 629 or 1141, you wouldn't need an upgrade at all, since you could get the functionality with 5 keymoves entered manually. So I would simply make a small upgrade using 175, without assigning any functions. The 6 functions (you may want the exit button) will then be assigned via keymove in IR.

You don't need to add a protocol and the upgrade is pretty small (4 bytes):

Code: Select all

Upgrade Code 0 = C7 DA (Misc Audio/2010) (RM v1.95)
 34 00 01 0A
End
You could choose to call it something different than Misc Audio, or setup code 2010.
Once this upgrade is pasted into IR, (along with any other upgrades and macros you may already have), you can assign keymoves using these EFC/OBCs: menu 134/118, exit 005/120, up arrow 133/112, down arrow 137/113, right arrow 135/114, and left arrow 139/115.

The first line on the Keymoves tab would look like:

Code: Select all

New Dev Old Dev Device Setup Hex
Button Key Button Type Code Cmd EFC
================================================================
1 RCVR/AMP Menu <N/A> VIDACC 2010 $91 134
Consumes 4 bytes of upgrade and 30 bytes of keymoves.

Hello,

Ok, 3FG. I'm a little lost on how you mean to make a small upgrade of just the 175 device codes using RM. I went thru the tutorials, it shows how to make an upgrade from scratch, and to upload a whole upgrade. It doesn't show how to pick and choose functions you would like to create an upgrade for. I will keep playing with the two programs, maybe I'll figure it out, but a little more help would be appreciated. This thread is continued here ( https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... av+upgrade ).
