Did I SHOOT my self in the Foot?

Post by samuelrock »

Well its been some time sence i used my jp1, I set up a few remotes when i got it and have done little past adding a few upgrades.

WELL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

i have the URC-6131 in fact i have 4 of them, set them up like 3 years ago, i was cheep when i installed the eeproms as i stole some from a few blue directv v1 URC remotes. now i would like to set my audio device button to turn on my HK AVR-500. i currently have the power on mapped to the play button.

so to make a macro that turns on my AVR-500 when the device key is pressed i need to use extenders, correct?

to use extenders with all the bells, i need a 2k eeprom correct?

I think the eeproms i pulled from the blue directv remotes are 1k its been so long i dont remember. does any one know what eeprom came in the directv remotes?

Yes that is correct. You need to use an extender to make the device keys do anything other than select a device.

Perhaps you can tell how big your eeprom is if you open your remote and can magnify the eeprom enough to see a part number. You can also try the extenders to see which one works.

You can tell if you have 1k or 2k by downloading using IR.

And yes, if you want to use an extender, you'll need a 2k chip.
