I've seen this movie. Smile

It is possible the remote's arrow keys are sending both the 26.218 subdevice and the 26.73 subdevice, and the receiver is using only the .218 code, as was explained to me here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10455. The learning remote reads only the .73 subdevice.

If you try an intentionally dirty learn by pressing the remote's key before the learning remote's key you may capture the two signals and see.

I was sort of surprised that in the case of my PS3 remote, it used some of the Sony DVD and Playstation2 codes at all, instead of their own. But there most be something about the way the IR code is piped through the USB and read by the PS3 that makes that easier. I was also surprised that in my case it was only the arrow keys that were using the different subdevice and not, say, the transport keys.

I think that's correct. The learns that I am able to read show the traditional Sony DVD device codes, the rest of them are causing IR to crash, so it's hard for me to examine them.

Try this upgrade...

No luck on any of the buttons. I hadn't used RM before, but followed the instructions and had it up and running in minutes. Imported your file, added a device from the output of RM, and uploaded to the remote.

No functionality off the DVD (keyed as a 1533 device code) buttons at all Sad

I strongly suspect user error because the codes are an exact match, so I have added the upgrade to your IR file myself and have reloaded it, so try downloading this file and re-testing it. Your learns are still present in CBL/SAT mode and the upgrade is in DVD mode.

Oh, user error is quite possible. Thanks for your help on this Rob. I'll grab the upgrade now and test very shortly.

Greg.

That worked!

I upgraded my version of IR.exe before trying, so perhaps that was the issue ?

Thanks Rob.

My guess is that you forgot to copy the protocol from RM to IR.

Don't think so, because it had created the device code in IR for me, which I assigned to the DVD key... Sad

I'm going to move this to my production remote (6131) now and see how it goes.

Any issues with macros on the 6131 PVR, or do I need to use an extender to get multi key presses across device keys working ?

Btw, there are some minor differences between the MadCatz code and yours. The MadCatz has buttons for POWER, HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3 and has a different code for the MENU button. In the upgrade that I loaded, the HDMI codes were assigned to the 1,2 and 3 buttons and the POWER code was assigned to the POWER button, so could you verify if these buttons work on your Intec device.

In your upgrade I used your MENU code, but it might be interesting to see if the Madcatz menu button does anything. To test it, download the MadCatz upgrade again and see what the menu button does.

Umm... "device codes" are not created in IR. I presume that you mean the device upgrade was created in RM (or KM), but if you did not do TWO distinct copy and paste operations, ONE to copy and paste the Device Upgrade from into IR, and a SECOND copy and paste of the PROTOCOL Upgrade from into IR, then you did indeed fail to copy the entire upgrade.

Rather than guessing, the easiest way to see what possible error there might be in your upgrade is to upload any applicable files (KM, RM and IR) to the diagnosis area and provide a link to them here.

You can't "copy" an upgrade from one remote to another, you need to load it into the new remote in the regular fashion and to do that you'll need to edit the RMDU file in RM. To that end, I have just added the code for your MENU button to the MadCatz upgrade as "menu2":

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=6068

The good news is that the Sony Combo protocol is native to the URC-6131 remote, so you won't need to copy the protocol when you load the upgrade into your URC-6131.
