So I got this remote hooked up to my PC: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/eb/ff/4c ... abd969.jpg and RMIR was stating that there was no RDF for 3403. I then downloaded the RDF from here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=27060 and saved it to the RDF folder.
Now when i read the remote in RMIR it automatically detects it as the AT&T remote which is the ATT-S30-S1B and has a different layout from this bell remote.
Im wondering if this RDF would still work with my remote if i just use the corresponding buttons on my bell remote?
Edit: I just tested the colored A, B, and C phantom buttons and they indeed worked. Will test the rest tomorrow.

Hey Jack,
You'll need a new RDF for your Bell remote, if only to get the right picture in it. The RDF that you found is for your remote, it just has the wrong image associated with it. However, the RDF is incomplete, so it will need to be tested. I will help you with this.

I have updated the RDF with the right image, same URL:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=27060
When you unzip it, you should put the RDF in the RDF folder and the map and jpg go in the Images folder.
Also, be sure to delete the old RDF that you downloaded as I've changed the name slightly.
I'm fairly confident that everything is right except for the button codes. I don't know if this remote supports keymoves or macros, but those are the best way to verify the buttons. Basically, you program a macro and keep a note of what buttons you put in it, then check to see if they show up correctly in RMIR. I would recommend using the 3 A/B/C buttons to hold the macros. You can put up to 15 buttons in a macro.
If it doesn't support keymoves or macros, your next best option is to create an upgrade, using as many buttons as possible, then check if the functions turn up on the right buttons.

So using the 9-9-5 command, I used the colored buttons to enter 15 buttons in each macro starting from the top of the remote and coming down using every button. I recorded each sequence of buttons on a piece of paper. Once I had the three colored buttons filled with 15 buttons and recorded on paper, I did a read in RMIR and all macros recorded correctly. I then had one more button to test which was the Enter_Zoom. At that point I erased my previous macro from the red button and just used the Enter_Zoom button as the macro on it. I then did a read in RMIR and that macro also reported correctly.

Oh cool, so that means that I got all the button codes correct, and it confirms that the remote supports macros. Could you also try the 994 command to see if it supports keymoves?
Then try some upgrades and see if that works properly. If it does, I think we're done and this is a good RDF.

I installed a bell satellite upgrade to the device STB and it works fine. I then did a keymove using 9-9-4, moving over the guide button from the device STB to device AUX and that also worked.
This seems to be a great remote. I even love the layout of it.
I do have a couple of questions though about bell/dishnetwork upgrades.
1: Is there a simple way to change the remote address through rmir?
2: Is there a more recent upgrade for the bell/dishnetwork remotes? I can't seem to find an upgrade that includes page up/down for scrolling a page at a time through the program guide.

Super cool, looks like we got this one sorted.jackching wrote:I installed a bell satellite upgrade to the device STB and it works fine. I then did a keymove using 9-9-4, moving over the guide button from the device STB to device AUX and that also worked.

I have split this question off into its own thread, so the questions don't get lost in an RDF thread.jackching wrote:I do have a couple of questions though about bell/dishnetwork upgrades.

/4 is the default, so not specifying it is the same as entering /4, /2 is the one that is different. But that's for remotes with a "*", this one uses "^" which doesn't use a /2 or /4 suffix.
Besides, if you were able to load an upgrade and the remote accepted it, that confirmed the checksum is right.

I need to know which device types have the most operational buttons. It seems as though SAT device type has the most functioning buttons. As for my sony television, I'm having trouble getting most buttons to work in other device types. In other device types it seems all I can get working mostly are the channel buttons, volume and power. The info button lights up when i push it but there is no response. Some don't light up at all when pushed.
As far as I could tell, only SAT device type has all of the buttons operable. I need all of the buttons to operate in another device type also. Is there a way to make this happen?

The 4 device types used by this remote all have the same number of buttons, even though there are differences in which buttons are included.
I just noticed that the original RDF has 5 device types included, so I just corrected that to 4, so download the updated version. Only the RDF changed, not the map or image.

I don't understand this. Then is there a way to include them all?The Robman wrote:The 4 device types used by this remote all have the same number of buttons, even though there are differences in which buttons are included.
Also i am trying to install this upgrade: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=26427 and the channels and volume will work but nothing else seems to. This upgrade works fine on my int422-4 remote. Is there maybe a certain protocol that this upgrade requires that this remote can't handle?

We don't decide which buttons are included in the button maps, that's programmed into the remote itself, but regardless, all of the button maps in this remote include a lot of buttons, so that's not the problem.
To eliminate the chance that you're doing something wrong, I have added that upgrade to the remote myself and have assigned as many buttons as I could, here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=27190
Also, just FYI, you don't need to wrap URL statements around URLs when you post, the forum will make them links automatically. Notice how my link is a darker color and has an underline, where yours doesn't, that's also one of the differences.
