No, that's impossible. But there are certainly JP1 remotes that function very similarly.

What does "deploy JP1 on a Harmony" even mean?

where can we buy thoses remotes ?
They seem to be very old ?

I want to jailbreak or hack my Harmony 890 to get new devices available.

Just want to exploit the Harmony with a new firmware/software to have better devices mapping.

Xsight is indeed old, but still widely available on eBay, and the closest thing to Harmony in the JP1 world. I have a lifetime supply of Xsights myself, maybe a dozen. Nobody has ever hacked a Harmony besides Concordance which really doesn't do much anyway. So you're stuck with the current firmware and software. But new devices are still being added to the database, and codes barely change from one model to the next. So there's really no need to hack a Harmony.

Harmony 890 doesn't support Apple TV, this is just one Example, it's very limiting right now.
I also have a Harmony 650 which do a better job, but it's mor HW problem I have with this one....

Thanks for the info, any info on Concordance ?

It absolutely does. Apple TV itself can be programmed to respond to ANY remote codes, or you can use the Apple TV codes which have been in the Harmony database for years.

You're on your own with Concordance. I found it to be complicated and essentially worthless.

I think you'd be better off learning how to use your ATV and your Harmony than trying to hack them, which is infinitely more complicated for the same end result.

See the Teach topic here:

If you don't require a screen, you don't need the old Xsight. Most other JP1 remotes can easily control all your devices. Most start around $20 and are available everywhere. Here's the list of JP1 remotes:

In terms of where you can buy JP1 remotes, the trick is identifying which remotes are in fact JP1, because they're sold under many different labels. But I just ordered one today for $6.99 (with free shipping, link below) for troubleshooting purposes. I won't say that this one is one of the "best" JP1 remotes, in fact the reason I am buying it is so I can document its shortcomings, but those shortcomings are limited to keymoves. As far as being able to load upgrades, etc it should work just fine.

Good looking remote, but no learning or backlight AFAIK.

Have you ever work with Harmony 890 ?

I use to have a 650 which was much more powerful and Intuitive.

If you do have the recipe to control Apple TV, TV, and A/V all at once, please feel free to share.

Thanks

I've never worked with a Harmony, but I've been using JP1 remotes for over 25 years and there's nothing they can't do.

I do agree with Dave, that a remote with learning is very useful to have because you can use it to capture the signals from a new device, but in most cases, we will already have an upgrade file for all of your devices.

Dave, which remotes are currently available? I can never keep track.

I've occasionally used those Harmony models. On either of yours, add literally any device, like a DVD player or something like that, then follow the Teach procedure linked above if the Apple TV codes aren't working. Also make sure your ATV is line of sight with the remote. There's no reason your Harmonys or any JP1 remote wouldn't work for you using the ATV codes or any arbitrary codes taught to it.

My favorite current JP1 remote at a brick and mortar is the ONN at Walmart, aka URC-3660 (or 3680). May also be at Best Buy. Other favorite is the Inteset INT-422, Amazon probably.

Thank you all,

I finally figured out how to setup the harmony 890 for all my devices, not so much friendly but work at the end.

Still looking to be able to optimize the device/hacking or get a new device to use with JP1.
