5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? No
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? See below
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? No
I just recently moved and have a different cable company, Spectrum. I want to load it into my URC-6131 Old PVR Remote Extender 2K. The equipment I have is an Arris DCX3600-M Set Top Box/Recorder. The Remote is a CLIKR-5 URS-870L-TWC. It?s a Brighthouse Remote. I haven?t found any upgrade file for this. I found the upgrade ie.Spectrum 210 and 110 Cable Boxes and Spectrum 201-T dated Nov 27, 2020. Modified them and loaded them up but they did not work. I tried to learn signals using a URC-8910B02, but it does not learn since I loaded an extender. Is there a way to remove the extender and load the original code. I tried a operation reset, but it didn?t work. Any help would be appreciated. |

Most extenders come with instructions on how to uninstall them. The Flash remotes have very intricate instructions and attempting simple reset can brick them.
The old JP1 eeprom remotes typically require a Manufacturer's reset 981, not an Ops reset 980 to remove an extender, but I recommend reading your extenders documentation before trying to remove an extender. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

I read the extender documentation this morning and could not find any reference to the uninstall procedure, but did find a reference to my extender in the readme, so I say to the SETUP-981 Manufacturer's reset. This resets the signature and frees up the learning area for learns.
Word of Caution: THIS IS NOT THE PROCEDURE FOR JP1.1, JP1.2 and JP1.3 extenders! _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

I've moved your thread to the code search forum and added the template, just to make things easier for any other folks who try to help.
I did a search for the Arris DCX3600 and found this thread at Remote Central, which implies that this STB uses the GI Cable protocol, which matches the Spectrum 210 and 110 Cable Boxes file that you've already tried. So, are you sure you loaded it correctly?
As for using your URC-8910 to learn, extenders in these older JP1 remotes need to be manually activated after you change the batteries, do a JP1 upload or download, etc. So the simplest way to deactivate it would probably be to load a raw rmir file. If you didn't save one from before when you added the extender, try this:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=26969
If you do learn the signals and see them all show up as GI Cable, you may need to go back and revisit if you loaded the upgrade properly. If they show something different, post the rmir file with the learns and I'll build you an upgrade. _________________ Rob

You most likely need a Brighthouse setup code.
try built in 1877 (works for my dcx3600) _________________ Jim Anderson |
