Just picked up this TV and embarked on a long, arduous code search. Sharing the results here. Got an excellent start from the other TCL Google TV upgrades in the file section. But a few of the really elusive codes came from the official upgrade from UEI which I found on the Simpleset site. This remote has a lot of functions that only work in certain contexts, like in certain apps or during playback. So repeating the brute for searches in every context was tricky, and even then, didn't yield repeatable results.

This upgrade has everything on the original remote plus digits, separator, discrete inputs, media player, bookmark, Disney+, Web Browser, ffwd, rewind. I also discovered that a long press of HOME goes to OPTIONS (gear icon) just like the Options function.

The colored button functions (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow) came from official UEI upgrades. But I was unable to confirm if they actually work since I don't have any apps that use them.

Right and Left arrows on the OEM remote only do skip, not search. Holding R/L sort of searches, but is hard to control. So these ffwd and rewind are actually quite useful, especially on apps like Sling and Youtube. I also found Stop, Pause and Play which aren't terribly useful. OK for Play/Pause works better. I recommend using OK, ffwd, rewind, Right and Left for the transport keys Play/Pause, ffwd, rewind, skipfwd and skipback respectively.

The Assistant (Voice) and Pairing functions don't do anything useful without the original remote.

Some compatible UEI setup codes (TV) are: 5446, 2434, 3183, 3078, 5604, 2414

If anybody finds any new functions, please post here and I'll add them to the upgrade. I really like this TV, and any new discretes, especially for apps would be great.

Well done Dave, I'm sure any other TCL Google TV users will find this useful.

Quick question, for OBC 163, you just have it labeled btn163 in the Functions list, but you have "input2" as the Note, does this one do "input2"?

Dave does this use a known UEI code? Just to get power, volume and mute for users of Roku and Tivo oem remotes, if it used a code by other tv brands like Roku tv did.

I don't know if any of the button codes match up, but here are the matching setup codes (RCA, dev 15, 38k):
TV 2414
TV 2429
TV 2434
TV 2675
TV 3047
TV 3183

Updated first post with compatible setup codes and bolded Rob's which I can confirm have matching EFCs.

Not sure which brands share these codes, but this list from TCL might put you on the right track.

Thanks to both of you, I have been trying to get my sister to buy Android tv so I could find a working code in older remotes. She uses her Roku Soundbar over the built-in UI of the tv anyways. Smile

Looks like RCA and Philips both use the same codes as this TCL. But they don't appear in any older manuals, so these codes are pretty recent I think.

My Amazon Omni Fire tv responds to TV 2434. But 3183 is one of the best codes so far, I have tried that has controlled almost everything on my Fire tv. I never tried 3183 before until I tried those codes today. Smile

The one that I highlighted, TV/2434, is in the most remotes (20), next is TV/3183 which is 13 remotes.

I tested in Insignia NS-RMT8D21. And it only knew 2434 & 3183. None of the other codes were valid.

On the RCRP05BR the code for TCL Roku TVs is 2049. It is not listed in the included code list as these remotes came out in 2009. 2049 is the same code for Dynex and Insignia TVs.
