370601 Insignia NS-RMT8D21

If you have a new remote that isn't recognized by RMIR, post the details here so we can help create a new RDF for it. Or, if there is an issue with an existing RDF or map, this is the place.

This Insignia remote from Best Buy appears to be the URC-3680

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-8 ... Id=6495830

The URC-3680 Cost's Less on Amazon but it would be interesting to see if the Insignia
actually has the 6 pin JP1 Connector or if they left it out
Some of the button names have been changed as well
Best Buy is Higher on price but it is nice to know there might be options to find JP1 remote's

The insignia NS-RMT8D21 has the jp1 pins and has signature 3706 the same as the URC-3660 v2 remote which surprised me

Here is the starter RDF There might be errors in it but so far testing has been ok. Not sure on all setup codes though also the manual list's a modal NS-RMT5D21 5 device remote that can be found at Best Buy and could be a JP1 remote from the looks of it

Looks like there is a three-device version:

Cheaper on ebay:

That's nice sale prices
I had switched most of my Inteset remote's to the URC-3660
and was thinking of going with the URC-3680 for all of them
Even though the URC-3660 is actually an 8 device remote
I like having the Device button lighting up as feedback that the button is actually pressed versus using a phantom button to switch devices.

But of course as soon as i switch all my remotes they will Inevitably come out with a remote that I will like even better

oh well

Let the Sales begin

Been years since I used JP1.
Can I get started again with RemoteMaster and these Insignia remotes listed here?
Thanks,
Erik

The 3 in 1 Insignia is much smaller than the Onn 6, it takes AAA batteries instead of AA the Onn takes.

Glad you caught that.
It is shorter and it makes me wonder if it is missing the JP1 Connector since it is in that bottom portion of the remote.Although using AAA batteries may give it the room needed

The 3 in 1 Insignia has the jp1 connector, it accepts efc, it's a learning remote. Funny thing is where the 6 device Onn and OFA/Insignia 8 device have each 6 & 8 device keys. The Insignia 5 device only has 4 device keys, and 3 device only two device keys. To program the missing device, which is Audio in both cases, you have to press and hold SETUP & VOL-, then enter the device code.

I have been pretty impressed with the URC3660 (I have the ONN Walmart version) and wanted to buy some more for backup, but they are now out of stock. I did see Amazon has the OFA 8-device version for 26.44.
