JP1 Remotes

I've had this remote for a long time. In fact I have two. One modified by Rob in 2005 and the other by me sometime later. They are both hard to use now because you have to press the button hard to make contact. What is the best way to clean up the buttons and contacts so they function like new?

I tried utmba95 fix in his post of

This seemed to work at first but then they started requiring more force to engage. Does anyone else have this problem?
