1. Device: BenQ MP610 (same remote as MP620P, CP120C and CP220)
2. Type of device: Projector
3. Year:
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-9910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? No
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? N/A
I traded a guy some fish supplies for this projector. It works great, but did not come with a remote. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have it mounted on the ceiling and standing on the couch to turn it on is getting really old.

I checked the Benq 8700 projector KM file and see that it uses setup 2020 for a URC-9910, using NEC1, 141. The Benq 8220 uses setup code 1500, NEC1, 48, FWIW. The setup codes are most likely not in the remotes.
Did you try either of these upgrades to see if either worked partially, since you have a cable? If they partially work, then you're pretty much in business.
I found these replacement remotes
HERE . On that page there's a link to a cheaper compatible remote. So buying a remote could be a fall back, should your craigslist posting not give any help.
I note also that OFA doesn't list setup codes for benq, but there's no projector category.
Sorry for not much help.

I believe projectors get lumped in with TVs in OFA lists.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried all four BenQ KM files from the downloads section and none of them worked (only tried power).
I called BenQ and the guy was really nice. He said Japan has never released the remote codes, however he said he has the ASCII codes and can send them to me. He started saying something about using hyperterminal to connect over a serial port...so I'm thinking he's talking about bypassing the need for a remote altogether and sending commands to the projector through serial. Any idea if those could be of help with this?
I may just break down and buy a $30 replacement remote. I just hated to buy one then find out I could have just gotten the code from somewhere since I wont be using it once I get my universal programmed.
Thanks,
Gaines

In the OFA kameleon manual (59300), there's a benq setup code 1032, gotten
HERE .
Anyone know what this setup code is and might it help?

TV/1032 = NEC1, device code 96. POWER is EFC 187.
VCR/0042, which is in the URC-9910, also uses NEC1, dev 96, so you could test EFC 187 using that setup code to see if it powers up your projector.

If I understand what you said correctly, by setting the VCR on my remote to 0042 I can test EFC 187 to see if it correctly powers on my projector. It does not.

In the latest UEI made Directv remote, the RC64, there are 3 BenQ codes listed, they're 11032, 11212, and 11315.

If you want to give Rat Shack a try, the 15-100 has a BenQ code 11756. The 15-133, 134 and 135 also have that code listed under Daewoo TV's. The Altas OCAP has BenQ codes 1032 and 1315, as well as code 1756 under Gateway, Tatung and Vizio TV's.

TV/1756 is the same as TV/1032, so that's not the one. I don't have info on TV/1212 or TV/1315.

TV/1315 is also NEC1 device code 96, but power is EFC 181, if the OP wants to try that EFC with VCR/0042.

Found a match and recorded the IR signals with the JP1 tools to create the respective files.
