I spite of my best efforts, I cannot wean my wife from this model. She has used it for too long. I've always programmed them so that for her they are hardware independant. Her last three all have button problems, (something I've never really successfully fixed.). I thought I would eventually get her to move to the oar usb04. But it seems that she'd rather complain about this or that key not working all the time.
I finally broke down and bought two "new other" and one "NOS" on ebay. (NOS is a little like YMMV on ebay). The first two looked a worked like brand new.
The NOS arrived today -- Looked brand new in a box, but when I pulled it out I could see that the top tier of buttons Power and above were all recessed. Oh well, it it works I can fix that. It worked, and I couldn't. No amound of pushing, jiggling, or wiggling would push them through they line up and any individual can be pushed through the bezel, but with the back plate properly installed they just don't reach. I finally gave up and changed the bezel for one from a defunct unit. No problem. I can't really see a difference between the two bezels, but intuition says the buttons have to be set deeper behind the new one. Just curious if anyone's ever seen this? the bezel doesn't seem to be damaged in any way. Oh, well. I've made missus Pogo happy for a few more years. and that's worth more than a few bucks. |

Which part did you replace, was it the outer shell or casing? If so, maybe there's a molding defect on the inside of the bad one that is pushing the button membrane away from the casing. _________________ Rob

Replaced the display bezel. Still have the new one and a bunch of old ones -- someday when I'm bored I'll take some comparison measurements. It's just an oddity right now. |
