So I have the following components

Sony BDP-S350 "BluRay"
Sony STR-DH810 "AVR"
LG 65UN6950ZUA 65" TV

I have the following remotes.

LG-AKB75675304
URC-2025

As the URC remote and my Sony gear is about the same age they get along nicely. None of the stock codes in the URC manual properly operate all of the TV functions.

What I would like to do is use my MCE Receiver to capture all the codes from the LG remote and make a upgrade for the URC.

I done this years ago with a JP1 parallel cable and a URC-4702. I used a URC-8810 to learn the hand full of codes I needed then added it to the URC-4702.

I still have the URC-8810 but I no longer have a machine with a parallel port, I ordered a usb to parallel port adapter but it has a C36 connector not a DB25. I could remove the C36 and install a DB-25 on it but it would be a painfully slow process to do the whole LG remote 4 buttons at a time as I did with the old DVD-R/VCR combo 12 years ago.

So what I would like to do is use my MCE receiver as a IR Widget in order to save all the ir codes from my LG remote. The issue is I can't find any threads detailing someone using a MCE receiver for this purpose.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be awesome!!

Thanks

I can't answer your question, but I do have one for you. It seems from your pictures that you have the right cable and 5-pin adapter to use RMIR with your URC2025. The URC-2025 is one of only two remotes that we have ever found that has both JP1 capability (through the 5-hole socket) and RF capability using the RF4CE protocol. Is your URC-2025 paired with a cable box for RF? If it is, I would really love to have a raw download of it to improve my knowledge of its RF support. To use your phrase, that would be awesome Smile .

It is setup for a cable box.. At this point I have no idea if its RF or IR.. My end goal was to use the STB button with LIRC for a media device or maybe attempting to get it to work on a fire tv..

You are more than welcome to a dump of the remote. I will send you the RM backup of it when I get home.

I don't know of any way to use an MCE dongle as an IR capture device.

But I already know all the LG codes. Look over this upgrade and tell me what's missing (Netflix, etc.), and I'll fill in the blanks.

To program your 8810 on a modern computer, just get a JP1.3 USB cable plus an EEPROM adapter, not an old parallel port card. Check some of the beginner stickies for details.

Thanks I will give this a test run when I get home.. I looked up the AN-MR700 remote that upgrade will likely have all the buttons I need..

I found a way to make a capture device from a demodulator and a PI.. I am going to look at cooking that up tonight.. But the upgrade you pointed to will likely get my TV working up to par with the URC-2025..

I don't need to program the old 8810 at least not at this time. I was going to attempt to use it as a capture tool for the buttons that don't work on the stock LG codes to make a upgrade for the URC-2025 but once I sat down and looked at what was missing I realized it would take forever to do it 4 buttons at a time.

That file got me working good enough for now.. One thing I did find is that my remote is a URC-2025B2BB is slightly different from the URC-2025B2..

It was minor but never the less different.. I grabbed MapThis and I am working on updating the files for the URC-2025B2BB..

Thanks for pointing that LG stuff out the wife loves using a single remote for all the AV components.. The only straggler I have is the FireTV and I am about to set that up with a IR receiver and make a upgrade for the STB button to operate it.

Thank you for the files. Unfortunately for me, the remote is not paired for RF with the cable box. If you do pair it at some time, I would be interested in having another raw download of the result.

I will not be setting it up for a cable box.. I will use the STB button with a MCE upgrade to control a fire tv over IR..

I do have a few more of these on order from ebay, I will dump them when they come in and upload them for you just incase they are setup for RF.

I don’t know the details of your fire control plan, but the built in Xbox 360 codes should work fine with the IReTV dongle.

That is exactly the route I was taking.. I am waiting for the dongle to arrive any day now..

@mdavej

I got a IR demodulator setup on a pi and used lirc to capture the codes from a LG remote.. The output file is below.. Do you know how I can get this into remote master?

Code:

As I said before, I already had all those codes and could have simply posted the ones that you were missing. So there was no need to go to all that trouble.

But to use the codes you found, simply open the upgrade I posted earlier, go to the Functions tab and click new, enter the Name and enter the rightmost byte in the Hex column. For example Netflix is Hex 95. Then go to the buttons tab and map to whatever buttons you wish.

This is more for the exercise of it.. I have a HDMI switch and some RGB rope lights I want to map.. Like this at least I can compare to a known value.. For what ever reason I though I had to get it over to pronto hex..

Thanks for the help...
