I have a few questions about about the 1056B03 extender and JP1 generally.

1. Is the 1.0 version the latest version of this extender?

2. Do I need to copy the RDF from the extender into the RDF directory or can I just use the version that comes with the latest version of RMIR?

3. I would like to have buttons that send (a) TV discrete on, (b) TV device selection (discrete), and (c) change the mode to the particular device. I have three devices. Is this possible with the extender? How should I approach this? (Keymoves? Macros? Multimacro?) Am I correct that I can't change the mode buttons on the remote to do this as (I think) other extenders can do?

Thanks!

1. Yes, there was only one version of the extender.

2. No, the RDF for the extender is included in RMIR.

3. This is a very simple extender, with one purpose only, to add keymove capability to the remote. Most remotes have that built in, this one does not. Do not think of it as adding new facilities that other extenders provide, it just remedies this one deficiency.

Thanks for the quick reply! I will experiment with key moves to see what I can do.

I use macros assigned to the device buttons and key moves for what you want.

Note that the setup button does not work as shift for this remote. However,
you can use functions assigned to a shifted button in macros.

You may want to look at my RMIR file.

I'm just starting to set up a couple of these remotes. I added the extender to one remote and got it set up the way I like it and I want to set up the other one exactly the same way.

Do I need to go through the process of installing and activating the extender again on the second remote before uploading the setup from the first remote?

I have been using this version (1.01 beta) of the extender for 8 years. It is great because It let's me make a power off command on the power button. I use the device buttons to provide discrete ON and input commands using macros.

Just in case it helps for anyone elses use case.
