You have me intrigued by this remote. It is the first universal RF remote I have come across, though I know of two UEI-made OEM remotes with RF support. You mention Bluetooth, but I don't think the RF is Bluetooth. The two I know of are ZigBee rather than Bluetooth, see the thread RF Support in RMIR.

I would love to get my hands on one but I cannot find a UK supplier.

Mathdon
Yes I really don't think the RF is bluetoooth either but it might be worth a try.
I was going to order the BLED112-V1 BL someday.
But instead I ordered the Insignia NS-RC02U-10A I ran across on EBAY yesterday.
The URC-2068bc2-0780-0002-R did not cost me anything so if you think it is worth
shipping from the US to Uk it is yours to have just let me know and we can work out the details
Right now I'm just happy i found the Insignia NS-RC02U-10A

I have done some investigation of the URC-2068BC2 and have found internal photos of it in its FCC report. Unfortunately it uses a processor new to us, a GreenPeak GP561. GreenPeak is a Dutch company but I can find no info on this chip other than the following extract from a report by a company whose software was used by GreenPeak to design the chip:
Quote:
GreenPeak Technologies of Utrecht, Netherlands, is a fabless semiconductor company offering innovative ultra low power wireless and battery-free data communication controller chips. GreenPeak was challenged with designing a GP510 system-on-chip RF4CE communication controller for integration into set-top boxes and GP561 for the remote controller devices.

The new processor probably explains why the raw download was unable to read the chip and returned all zeroes. RF4CE is a protocol developed by the ZigBee Alliance, so I was right on that.

I have been afraid for some time that we would come across a GreenPeak processor. The RF remote that I have investigated in some detail is the URC-2125BC0 that uses the Texas Instruments CC2530 processor that has built-in RF4CE support but there are FCC internal photos also of a URC-2125BC1 that uses a GreenPeak GP565 processor. However, as far as I can tell, the URC-2125BC1 has not been issued by UEI, or at least not yet.

I certainly would like to play with one to see what we can do with it, but in the absence of any spec of this GP561 processor it may be impossible to read it, let alone write to it. I am very willing to pay for shipping from the US, but do not want to deprive you of yours so at present I will continue to investigate other means of getting one. Thank you though for the very kind offer and I may take you up on it later, if you still are willing to part with yours. How did you get it free of charge? I had assumed from your first post that you had bought it. Is the Insignia an RF remote too?

I have now ordered one, new, on eBay, shipping from the US. Shipping is more than the cost of the remote Wink . So thank you again for the offer of sending me yours, but if I make headway with it then you will still have yours and can benefit from the findings.

Glad you found one
as to my Insignia it is an old remote but
the features i want are that it is backlit
and hopefully an extender is already made for it
this has both.
As to the URC-2068bc2-0780-0002-R To keep myself busy
I work part time at an electronics recycling company,
so i have access to alot of goodies
The only thing wrong with mine is that the previous owner
lost the small screw that holds the battery compartment shut
so they used tape but I will clean it up and find a screw
I look forward to any progress you make with this remote
who knows we may run into other remotes with this processor

I ordered two of these (used) and have received one. The signature is slightly different to HamburgerHelper1's, but I also found that Raw Download in RMIR gave all zeros. JP2Sniffer was able to read the E2 area. My remote has signature block 680106UEI 12582 DTA-PULSE, so the numeric part of that is 680106. It uses the typical JP2 16 bit checksum, and as HamburgerHelper1 found the E2 area runs from 0x0200 to 0x0FFF. Here's the segments with segment length, type, and data:
Code:

I received my two remotes today. Raw download in RMIR gives all zeroes, as you both have found. The rmaster.err file shows a signature of 680106, same as 3FG's. JP2Sniffer downloaded the segments. There are 19 of them. Two of the three devices differ from those of 3FG and there are 8 type 10 upgrade segments, which may give some useful info. No time at the moment to study them further, but will report again when I have done so.

This is a brief progress report, though in fact it seems more like a non-progress report Crying or Very sad . I have modified RMIR and jp12serial.dll so that RMIR can now do a raw download of the remote. I find from trying the 9xx codes that the remote does not support any of key moves, macros or learned signals. It does support 990 blink-back of the TV device code and 983 signature blink-back. I decided, probably wrongly, that the cable device code is locked and tried 982 cable mode lock/unlock. Unfortunately it didn't do that, instead it did a factory reset which deleted all the device upgrade segments. I had saved the raw download and so was able to try to upload that back to the remote with RMIR. The LEDs on the cable flashed as I would expect, but RMIR reported that upload verification failed. Another raw download showed that it was still in the factory reset state. The remote is still functioning normally for that state, so I've not lost anything (the device upgrades are still in the original raw download) but it doesn't feel like much progress.

and this cable box manual states
Note: Please insure your remote can “see” the front of the Digital Adapter
during the pairing process.
Implying it uses IR to Pair the RF

I've just noticed this remark of yours. My remotes are new, and although there is a hole for such a screw, there isn't one. There are two lugs at the bottom end of the cover that engage with two holes in the casing. The instruction leaflet doesn't mention a screw, either. It just has a picture with an arrow, indicating that it just slides open.

With the help of 3FG on communication with the GP541 chip, I have now been able to produce RMIR v2.12.3 as a development build that supports the URC-2068BC2. This is available as a full installation package in the RMIR Development folder on SourceForge. At present it only supports this remote on Windows systems, as it has required an update to the jp12serial.dll library from v0.24 to v0.25. Both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions of v0.25 are included in the package, as are RDF, map and image files for this remote with both signatures 680005 and 680108. The RDFs are identical apart from this signature, as we have no idea what differences, if any, there are between the two.

Please note that this is a very limited remote. It has no device selection. Instead, the TV_Power, Vol+, Vol- and Mute buttons send TV signals and all other buttons send Cable signals. There is a setup procedure in the manual for changing the Vol+/- and Mute buttons to send Cable instead of TV signals, but that is the only control over what buttons send what signals. It does not support either macros or key moves, neither by 9xx commands or with RMIR - I tested this with RMIR to check, and as it does not work then I have suppressed these two tabs in the RMIR display. However, it does support device upgrades and these can be created and uploaded with RMIR. I found by experiment that it supports the same protocol upgrades as the Texas Instruments TI2541 processor, so all protocols with TI2541 code in protocols.ini are available for use in device upgrades for this remote.

I have done no testing yet of the RF capabilities of the remote. If anyone has a URC-2068BC2 that is paired with their cable box, I would love to hear from them and learn of their experience with it.

I must say I am impressed at how fast you were able to figure out this remote
