Can I format and replace settings.bin on a URC-6440

Post by davecs »

I am a Linux user, and Linux installations that are based on modern code, won't automount the URC-6440, or at least they won't mount mine. It seems that the file system on it is not consistent, and goes past the end of its partition. I can mount it, manually via a terminal, but it's only writable by root, and not recognised by RemoteMaster.

Even in a version of Linux based on older code, which does mount it automatically, gives a number of error messages as it does so.

I suspect that this is because Linux is more sensitive to being secure against EndOfFile vulnerabilities.

What I want to know is, will I brick the remote if I copy the files from it, reformat it, and copy back the files?
