Hello,
I am a new user and I would like to receive some help with my One For All Smart Control 8 remote. I have programmed the remote to my Pioneer VSX-502 AV Receiver.. functions like volume up/down, input selection, and mute work but I can’t access any of the other functions. I have tried programming commands to keys with the “944” code but it’s not working. Am I just doing something wrong or is this remote not capable of programming the codes that I need?

The URC-7980 is well supported by RMIR, which makes it much easier to set up than by using 9xx commands. Since you have found this forum, you might like to learn how to use RMIR by reading the Wiki article JP1 - Just How Easy Is It? - RMIR version.

Is the URC-7980 remote a USB remote? If not, the OP will need to get a JP1 cable first before he can use RMIR.

I have tried the “994” key move feature and have also received a whole list of 5 digit codes for this pioneer receiver but they aren’t working at all. So what’s the deal with the Bluetooth? I don’t have the cable to hook into the back of it.. is there anyway that I can get around that with the Bluetooth feature?

For more info on Bluetooth support in RMIR, see the thread Bluetooth is coming to RMIR, and in particular this post for the current situation. Unfortunately there is no way to use Bluetooth without buying something, though. I would strongly recommend the Bluegiga BLED112 dongle, which was the first method supported by RMIR. The dongle is easily available in both the UK and USA - I don't know where you are - and the thread gives you details of suppliers and prices. On the other hand, JP1.x cables are difficult to get at present and need to be shipped from China. So Bluetooth seems a better bet at present.
